As part of our Masibonisane GBV Peer & Social Education Initiative and School for Cool Programme, we engaged learners from Mahlatsi High School - a school adopted under the programme - on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR).

The session created a safe space for honest conversations around:
• informed decision-making
• consent
• healthy relationships
• reproductive health, and
• young people’s right to access accurate information and support.

Through these engagements, we are equipping young people with the knowledge and confidence to make informed choices, prevent risky behaviours, and build healthier and GBV-free futures!

The sessions are ongoing.

📍 Johannesburg, Gauteng

Our Community Monitors recently participated in a capacity-building and training session in preparation for the implementation of the Community-Led Monitoring (CLM) programme across six provinces.

The training equipped monitors with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to effectively collect data, identify service delivery challenges, strengthen community accountability, and amplify community voices.

We are excited to see this dedicated team put their training into action as we work towards improved access to quality health services within local communities.

LORRAINE KHOZA FOUNDATION PROTESTS AGAINST BAIL OF A MAN ALLEGED TO HAVE R***D 10+ WOMEN AND CHILDREN

On the 12th of February 2026, the Lorraine Khoza Foundation stood in solidarity during a powerful community march alongside key stakeholders to demand justice for all victims affected by alleged serial ra**st, Innocent Mgibe, who has not only sexually violated individuals but also caused deep physical and emotional trauma within the community of Schoemandsdal - Nkomazi.

During court proceedings, DNA evidence confirmed a match linking another victim to the perpetrator, and bail was denied. The case has now been transferred to the High Court in Boschfontein and is scheduled to continue on the 18th of February 2026 and the 19th of February 2026 (Tonga Court).

We demand justice!

COMPLIMENTS OF THE NEW YEAR

We’re proud to launch our latest research report, titled:

“Understanding Community and Learner Perceptions and Responses to Gender-Based Violence” - a study from the Masibonisane GBV Peer & Social Education Programme.

The study forms the foundation of our evidence-based, grassroots approach to addressing Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF), centring the voices and experiences of communities and learners.

This research is a resource for policymakers, practitioners, funders, and community leaders committed to ending GBVF. The full report is available upon request

We look forward to implementing the findings of this research in the new year, as part of our continued commitment to ending the scourge of GBVF in our communities.

📢 BIG ANNOUNCEMENT 📢
THE LORRAINE KHOZA FOUNDATION OPENS AN EMERGENCY SHELTER & ONE-STOP CENTRE FOR GBV VICTIMS AND SURVIVORS

We are honoured and deeply proud to announce the official opening of the LKF Emergency Shelter and One-Stop Centre - a safe and dignified space for women and children affected by gender-based violence.

Situated in the heart of Nkomazi, across 54 rural villages where support services have long been limited, our centre brings all essential services under one roof to ensure survivors receive urgent, compassionate and integrated care.

Our Services Include:
• Emergency rescue
• Psycho-social support & counselling
• Legal advice and support
• Medical assistance
• Shelter services
• Video conferencing for remote case handling

With over 1000 cases attended to since our inception, this centre marks a bold new chapter, one of expanded reach, stronger intervention, and deeper community impact.

The LKF Emergency Shelter and One-Stop Centre is more than just an extension - it is a safe home, a healing space, and a new beginning for our community.

When you find your voice, you find your power!
