🚨 BIG ANNOUNCEMENT | MASIBONISANE IS COMING TO WESTONARIA, GAUTENG!

Following the successful implementation of Phase 1 of the Masibonisane GBV Peer & Social Education Programme in Mpumalanga, the Lorraine Khoza Foundation is proud to announce its expansion into Westonaria, Gauteng.

We recently concluded successful site visits and programme introductions in this mining community, engaging with community stakeholders and the management of:

• Simunye Secondary School
• Hoërskool Westonaria
• Westcol TVET College

Through Masibonisane, we will place the Lorraine Khoza Foundation at the heart of the community - working alongside learners, students and community members to strengthen GBV prevention, awareness, response and support, while addressing broader social challenges at grassroots level.

The engagements were a resounding success, and we are ready to commence implementation!

Westonaria, Masibonisane is coming. 🤗

📍JERUSALEM | LEGOGOTE LKF CLM Focus Group Discussion - Mpumalanga, Mbombela

We concluded our July Focus Group Discussions, engaging young people accessing health services at Legogote and Jerusalem Clinic.

Through CLM, young people shared their experiences and perspectives on healthcare access, contributing community evidence towards more equitable and responsive health services.

LKF Community-Led Monitoring (CLM) Focus Group Discussion | Mpumalanga - Nkomazi, Mzinti

We hosted our second CLM Focus Group Discussion in Mzinti, Nkomazi - the first of two discussions scheduled for Mpumalanga this month.

The session brought together youth and other community members to openly share their experiences of accessing healthcare services at Mzinti Clinic through honest dialogue and community participation, we continue to amplify local voices that will contribute in shaping more equitable and responsive healthcare services.

LKF Community-Led Monitoring (CLM) Focus Group Discussion - Northern Cape, Kimberly,

The Lorraine Khoza Foundation successfully conducted its first CLM Focus Group Discussion in the Northern Cape as part of the implementation of the CLM Programme.

The discussion created a safe and confidential space for participants to share their lived experiences of accessing HIV, TB and STI services, contributing valuable community insights that will help strengthen health systems and advance equitable, people-centred healthcare.

We remain committed to ensuring that community voices inform improvements in healthcare servic delivery and equity across South Africa.

The Lorraine Khoza Foundation held a successful introductory engagement with the King Cetshwayo District Department of Health in KwaZulu-Natal, marking an important step in implementing the Community-Led Monitoring (CLM) Programme.

We look forward to working with the District to advance health equity and strengthen community participation in healthcare.

In commemoration of Youth Month, the Lorraine Khoza Foundation represented by Lorraine Khoza, participated in the Youth Parliament, a platform that empowers young people to engage in democratic dialogue, influence public policy, and advance solutions to the challenges facing South Africa’s youth.

As the nation reflected on the legacy of 1976 under the theme “RESET@50 – The Future Calls,” we joined young leaders from across the country in reaffirming our commitment to gender equality, social justice, and the meaningful participation of young people in shaping a South Africa where the rights, dignity, safety, and wellbeing of all are protected.

What Are We Up To This Youth Month? | Part 1 of 2

As part of Youth Month, the Lorraine Khoza Foundation participated in the National Dialogue Youth Sector Stakeholder Engagement Session, represented by our Founder and Executive Director, Lorraine Khoza.

The two-day engagement brought together youth sector leaders, civil society organisations, government representatives and key stakeholders, including the Deputy Minister in the Presidency for Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities, to identify challenges affecting young people across South Africa and contribute towards the development of a collective roadmap for youth development.

The Lorraine Khoza Foundation had the honour of facilitating and directing the proceedings on Day 1, while also contributing to the Health and Social Development Commission discussions on Day 2.

We are proud to be part of this important process aimed at strengthening youth participation, amplifying young voices and advancing a more equal, inclusive, accessible and equitable society for all.

As an organisation committed to youth empowerment, gender equality and social justice, we remain dedicated to ensuring that the voices, experiences and aspirations of young people shape the future of our country.

As part of our Masibonisane GBV Peer & Social Education Initiative and School for Cool Programme, we engaged learners from Mahlatsi High School - a school adopted under the programme - on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR).

The session created a safe space for honest conversations around:
• informed decision-making
• consent
• healthy relationships
• reproductive health, and
• young people’s right to access accurate information and support.

Through these engagements, we are equipping young people with the knowledge and confidence to make informed choices, prevent risky behaviours, and build healthier and GBV-free futures!

The sessions are ongoing.
