Did you know that Die Ou Pastorie is now open for dinner on weekends?
They are really changing their game with delicious meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner, a fully stocked deli with take home delights and now even have a some Spa treatments!

It's a favourite spot of mine because of it's old world charm and quiet garden but now with dinner..... I'm thinking date night!

OH BOY!!! We thought it was time to try The Strawberry Farm in Skeerpoort. Thought the prices for a waffle were a little expensive but then they arrived!!! WOW!

I have never had such a delicious waffle EVER!
We tried the strawberry one with cream and ice cream and the death by chocolate and the apple one. They were devoured so quickly I missed all the photo opportunities but I think this one tells the story!

Feel like a treat.... make a booking there for next weekend!

If you haven't been to The Nut and Owl yet, you are missing out. Such a stunning venue under the trees, good music at these events and a selection of great food. Yes, there is an entry fee so make it worth your while and settle in for the day with family and friends and just enjoy time out in the country.

We have such a great bunch of folk who look after the animals of Hartbeespoort! They are called HAWS.... yes, you get a great response from people when you say, I went to visit haws today.... watch their reaction.... it's priceless. In fact - it's Hartbeespoort Animal Welfare Society - in short, HAWS and they do some incredible work with just sponsorships and volunteers.

Over December they have asked people in Harties or if you are visiting Harties to pop in, take a dog for a walk, sit and play with the cats, give the kittens and puppies some cuddles or even get involved in bathing and brushing. They need the extra set of hands over the holidays to make sure all their animals get the love they deserve.

Drop the teenagers off for community service hours while you enjoy a cup of coffee at many of the restaurants nearby or join them for some family time in giving back into the lives of the forgotten.

If you can't lend a hand, feel free to look at their website to see their wish list of needs from bricks, paint, dog blankets and of course food!

You could also join them for their Christmas function on the 7th of December. Buy a ticket for yourself, a table for your business or donate a ticket to someone. All funds help HAWS survive and thrive in difficult times.

This quiet country estate goes big occassionally, first having the incredible flying carnival and this year, celebrating their 20 year anniversary with 5 live bands on a massive stage by the waterfront and loads of vendors to entertain residents and their guests the whole day. It was COLD but when Loufi , Botter, Lungele and Dr. Victor & The Rasta Rebels were on the stage, they forgot the cold and started dancing!

Pecanwood College will be celebrating 20 years of providing IEB education to students from Grade 0000 to matric in the Hartbeespoort area. They are situated right next door to Pecanwood Estate. Next weekend, join their COMMUNITY DAY where everyone is invited to a jam packed market day!

They have partnered with a range of local business owners to ensure a magical event for all ages. Delicious food, drinks, farmers market produce and some exciting fun activities for the whole family.

It's going to be on the Pecanwood College main sports field and starts at 10:00am. Come spend the day with them, bring a camp chair if you wish but there will be a covered outside area to enjoy your lunch from the vendors.

If you are thinking of moving to the area or seeing the school.... this may also be a good opportunity to pop in for an informal view of it's offerings.

And another event happening today at Die Ou Pastorie . Escape the heat and the noise. Even with live music, sitting under the trees with some old favorites being played is a real treat.

What are you up to today? I've been to this market once before and loved it. Trying it out again. Luckily there's a huge shade area to escape to after some shopping. An essential at the moment.
