The Tswelelopele Empowerment Foundation, based in Tshidilamolomo Village, Ward 1, Ratlou Local Municipality (North West Province), cordially invites you to partner with us for our upcoming Back-to-School Outreach Programme scheduled for 05 March 2026.

9th Annual 1000 School Shoes Collection Fun Run and Walk

The Tswelelopele Empowerment Foundation is proud to announce the 9th Annual 1000 School Shoes Collection Fun Run and Walk, taking place on 26 December 2025.

This annual programme—an initiative of Tswelelopele Empowerment Foundation, a registered non-profit organisation—is aimed at providing humanitarian support to disadvantaged learners in the outlying villages of Mahikeng, North West. The event is designed to raise essential school shoes and dignity packs in a fun and community-driven way.

The project was initiated by community members from villages including Makgori, Tshidilamolomo, Dingateng, Masamane, Mathateng, Mabule, and Matloding within the Ratlou Local Municipality. It emerged after community observations revealed that many children still walk to school barefoot. Because of poverty, some learners drop out of school—especially during winter—when families are forced to choose between buying food and buying clothing.

“We hope to make a success of this campaign and many more to come in order to better our communities and help our future leaders. As Motswana once said, ‘Ngwana sejo oa tlhakanelwa’

The beneficiaries of this programme are learners aged 7–17, both boys and girls, from disadvantaged backgrounds. They show strong determination to pursue education despite daily hardships.

2025 Collection Targets

1000 pairs of school shoes

1500 dignity packs for young girls

The objective is to restore dignity to the girl child, ensuring that no learner misses school during her monthly cycle, while also giving children hope and confidence to focus on their studies.

Route: Masamane to Tshidilamolomo (7.6 km)

Registration Fee: 1 pair of school shoes + 2 packs of sanitary towels
