Protecting children is a shared responsibility. 🤝👧👦
Lesedi la Batho recently hosted its bi-annual Stakeholder Workshop themed Child Protection. The workshop brought together various NPOs and Government Departments working closely with children to share their services and strengthen collaboration in promoting child protection within the community of Mabopane.
The purpose of the workshop was to create awareness, encourage partnerships, and highlight the important role each stakeholder plays in ensuring the safety, well-being, and development of children.
Representatives present included:

🔹 Open Disclosure Foundation
🔹 Department of Health
🔹 Department of Education
🔹 Department of Social Development
🔹 Day Care Centres
🔹 Community Organisations and other child-focused stakeholders
The engagement provided a valuable platform to exchange knowledge, discuss challenges affecting children, and promote coordinated efforts towards creating safer and more supportive environments for all children.
Together, we can build communities where every child is protected, valued, and given the opportunity to thrive. 💙

Lesedi la Batho proudly celebrates 15 incredible years of empowering communities, uplifting lives, and creating opportunities for a brighter future. From humble beginnings to a thriving community hub, Lesedi la Batho has been a beacon of hope, providing skills development, support programmes, and meaningful change for countless individuals and families.

Our amazing kiddies celebrated the day dressed in red and white, sharing friendship, kindness, sweet treats, and joyful moments together. From fun activities to happy giggles, it was a beautiful reminder that love starts with caring, sharing, and being kind to one another.❤️

This week reminds us that behind many smiles, there may be silent struggles. Teen su***de remains a serious concern in South Africa, and our young people need safe spaces where they feel heard, supported, and understood.

As parents, educators, and community members, we must create space for honest conversations, listen without judgment, and build environments where learners feel safe to speak openly about their mental health and emotional challenges.

Lesedi la Batho plays an active role in schools by offering Proactive Information Programme sessions for grade 8 learners covering topics such as self-development, child abuse, human rights awareness, Gender Based Violence prevention, sexual and reproduction health and rights. We also provide support to the community by providing psychosocial support interventions when needed. These services are delivered by our qualified Social Worker and three Social Auxiliary Workers, ensuring that vulnerable children and families receive professional care and guidance.

We believe that prevention begins with education, early intervention, ongoing support and accessible services.

❤️ When We Give, Hope Grows ❤️

This festive season, Lesedi la Batho was able to share more than just food — we shared hope, dignity, and love. Through our successful Food Parcel Drive, 50 families received food parcels that eased the burden of hunger and allowed them to celebrate Christmas with peace of mind.

Seeing the relief, smiles, and gratitude from our community reminded us why we do this work. 💛 None of this would have been possible without the incredible generosity of our individual donors, Brooklyn Methodist Church and its members, and Digititan and its amazing employees.

Your kindness turned worry into relief and made this Christmas a little brighter for many households. Thank you for showing our community that they are seen, valued, and not alone. 🙏✨
