For nearly 20 years, Khazimula Children's Home has operating out of an old farm school, providing round-the-clock care, meals, and safety for 20 vulnerable children. 🏡✨

While they've upgraded their dormitories, the kitchen and dining hall—the absolute heart of the home—are in urgent need of help. The vinyl floors are completely worn out, and the ceilings are deteriorating. The home is currently raising R100,000 just to fix the structural safety of the ceilings. Winning this floor and paint makeover would beautifully complete the project, ensuring a safe, hygienic environment where the kids can eat, do homework, and play board games in a space that feels dignified and warm! 🍽️📚

"There are two things you can never have enough of.... good friends and great shoes."

A jump for joy and a loud shout out to the village of people who were involved in this amazing fundraiser that benefitted our children and our fur kids. To Terri and the team at Piggly Wiggly Coffee Shop, all the people who purchased raffle tickets, and to the generous sponsors of the amazing prizes - thank you for your support. We have 20 pairs of happy feet, our new EDU Room has a heater for the cold evenings and our fur kids are enjoying their special treats.

It is with deep sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Charles Paul, a founding member of Khazimula Children's Project and our longest-serving Board Member, who faithfully served from 2006 to 2025.
Charles was a passionate advocate for vulnerable children and dedicated many years of his life to advancing the mission and vision of Khazimula. His unwavering commitment, generous spirit, and servant leadership helped shape the organisation into what it is today.
Over the years, Charles served with distinction in several leadership roles, including as Chairperson and Secretary of the Board. He brought wisdom, integrity, and steadfast guidance to every decision and discussion. As an Attorney, his wise counsel and professional expertise were invaluable to Khazimula, and his advice was always grounded in compassion, fairness, and a deep desire to serve others.
Charles leaves behind a remarkable legacy of service, leadership, and care for the most vulnerable in our communities. His contribution to Khazimula will never be forgotten.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Aunty Pam, his family, friends, colleagues, and all who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him.
Rest in peace Charles. Thank you for your years of faithful service and for the difference you made in so many lives.

Our EDU Room is coming together… slowly but surely this has become a reality for our children.
A dedicated space for them to enjoy recreational reading, focus on homework and study, and attend extra lessons.

Today, on Mother’s Day, we honour and celebrate the incredible women who play a nurturing role in the lives of the children at Khazimula Children’s Home. 💐
To the birth mothers of each child in our care — we acknowledge you today with compassion, respect, and gratitude. No matter the circumstances, your children carry your story, and today we hold space for you with love and understanding.
We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to the amazing 'Aunties' who stand beside our children every day — our dedicated Social Worker, our caring female Child & Youth Care Workers, wonderful cooks, laundry lady, and passionate volunteers. Thank you for the comfort, guidance, patience, meals, clean clothes, warm hugs, listening ears, and daily acts of love that help make Khazimula a home.
You are the hands and hearts that help nurture healing, hope, and belonging.
To every mother, caregiver, volunteer and mother figure in our Khazimula family — Happy Mother’s Day. 🌷💖

Our mealtimes are about so much more than just food 🍽️
It’s a moment to pause, connect, and be heard. Around the table, our children share stories from their day—school victories, new friendships, challenges they’ve faced, and dreams they’re building. These conversations help them grow in confidence, strengthen their communication skills, and remind each child that they belong.
Eating together also nurtures a sense of family. It teaches respect, listening, and empathy—values that stay with them long after the plates are cleared.

Thank you to Sharon Dromgool from Howick Lions for inviting our children to take part in the Lions 'Big Walk for Little Warriors' on Sunday 19 April to raise funds for children with cancer. 9 of our children completed the 5km walk accompanied by Aunty Nthabiseng - one of our child & youth care workers. One of our boys bagged 2nd Place - and Aunty Di awarded him a special medal for his achievement. This walk brought back cherished memories of Aunty Judy - who walked with our children at last year's event.
