Unfortunately, an out-of-town visitor in St Helena Bay woke up this morning to find a break-in in progress and saw someone matching the clothing description of our usual suspect running off into the bush. The incident was only reported just over an hour later, after the visitor came across one of our social media awareness posts.

Last night, a Langebaan resident returned home to find that a television had been stolen and an aluminium window frame removed. The incident was promptly reported to SAPS. This is the second time the property has been targeted, highlighting that the suspect returns to properties he has previously attempted or successfully entered.

Please remember to:
- Install alarm systems linked to an armed response company
- Arm your alarm at night, outside lighting can act as a deterrent
- Secure aluminium window frames properly to prevent removal
- Burglar bars still remain the most effective way to prevent access. Even the see through bars will deter him and other opportunists.
- Report all attempted and confirmed housebreakings to SAPS immediately

🚨🥷Alert 🥷🚨

The infamous “silent housebreaker” is back in the area again after laying low during the recent bad weather.

On Tuesday night, he was chased in St Helena Bay for hours. This morning, footage surfaced showing him scouting his usual target areas once again in the early hours of the morning.

We are waiting to hear of any positive housebreakings reported this morning.

Residents are urged to stay alert and tighten up home security. He will take advantage of security weaknesses and has a history of returning to properties where he has previously gained access.

If you are a victim of crime, please report the crime to SAPS and insist on a case number.

Please pay attention to the various group rules and keep the alert groups clear for EMERGENCIES.

Last night, an attempted housebreaking took place in Myburgh Park against the farm border. The area and general description matched that of the notorious housebreaker. Armed response, SAPS, TLNHW and its ERT responded.

Minutes later movement in the greenbelt was reported placing him almost a kilometer away.

Using this info, a drone was sent up and after a while, the suspect was spotted. Being a windless night, he heard the drone and ran off immediately, heading through the veld toward the R27. By this time, the drone needed a battery change and needed to return.

This was his second appearance this week, being spotted in Shark Bay again, earlier in the week.

He will be back. Again.

While all of this was going on, patrollers were also focussing on our other hotpots and opportunity areas on foot, where vehicles are not permitted as well as our usual suburb hotspots.

Our infamous housebreaker is back in action with successful break ins in Shark Bay and Myburgh Park this week and other camera footage of him trying his luck on other properties as well.

He has also been caught on camera and pursued in St Helena Bay recently.

He is frequenting addresses he has succeeded at before, as he used to do. He likes his easy targets.

His methods and behaviour are the same as before, although he is using new routes since TLNHW nabbed on his old favourite route.

While our patrollers were observing in Shark Bay last night, he struck in Myburgh Park again, leaving guests without their phones, bluetooth speaker and powerbanks.

Unless you would like to wake up missing a tv, phones, speakers, watches, and other electronics and valuables, please inform your guests that there is an issue and that they should arm the alarm and lock windows and doors at night. The most common successes he has are at airbnbs and holiday rentals where people are unsuspectingly targetted.

Please open a CASE at Langebaan SAPS. INSIST on a Case number. Do not accept an incident report or OB entry. This has been happening recently to a few people.

It is illegal and against standing orders for South African Police Service (SAPS) officials to discourage, turn away, or refuse to open a case.

You have the right for a crime commited against you to be recorded and investigated.

If your case is refused, ask to speak to the Station Commander / acting Station Commander / VisPol Commander or:
