Boys Don't Cry: Emotional Silence, Trauma and Masculinity

For generations, boys have been taught to "man up", hide their emotions, and carry their pain in silence. But what happens when trauma goes unspoken? How does emotional silence shape relationships, mental health, violence, and masculinity itself?

Join Callas Foundation and MenEngage South Africa for an important intergenerational conversation during Men's Mental Health Month as we explore the impact of emotional suppression on boys and men, and the pathways to healing, vulnerability, and healthy masculinities.

🎙️ Featuring:
• Sean Samson – Alcardo Andrews Foundation
• Luyolo Lengisi –
• Anwar Parker – Psychologist
• Zachary Lawrence – Callas Foundation

🎤 Moderator: Rodney Brown

🚲💛Langaformen Joins the Bicycle Ambulance Parade

Tomorrow, Langaformen will be joining the Bicycle Ambulance Parade hosted by Langa Bicycle Hub.

This important initiative is more than just a ride, it is a step toward building safer, more inclusive and responsive community care systems. The parade aims to bridge gaps in emergency access, especially for people living with disabilities, ensuring that no one is left behind when it comes to basic health support and mobility.

As Langaformen, we stand in solidarity with efforts that promote dignity, accessibility, and equality for all. We believe that community-led solutions like these are powerful tools for change, healing, and justice in our communities.

Let’s keep building a Langa where care is shared, access is equal, and every life is valued. 💪🏽🌍

In a country still deeply affected by hunger, poverty, and inequality, where the gap between the rich and the poor continues to grow, we are reminded that our struggle is not a lack of resources but often a lack of fair distribution. South Africa has enough resources to ensure that everyone can live with dignity, yet many families continue to go to bed hungry.

At , we believe that no one should face hunger alone. Through our Community Kitchen, we continue to serve the people of Langa, providing meals, hope, and solidarity to those who need it most. Our dedicated members also continue to share bread with community members across different parts of Langa, ensuring that support reaches those facing difficult circumstances.

This work is only possible because of the spirit of Ubuntu that lives within our community—the belief that we are stronger when we care for one another.

We thank everyone who continues to support our efforts and stand with us in the fight against hunger and poverty.

Look out for us in your street this Friday as we continue spreading kindness, sharing food, and building a caring community, one meal at a time.

is grateful and honoured to have been invited by the Cry of the Excluded Campaign last Friday to participate in an important community dialogue hosted in Gugulethu.

We are particularly humbled to have been part of the panel discussion, where our Founder and Managing Director, Luyolo Lengisi, represented the organisation and contributed to conversations on the social challenges affecting our communities. Lutho Lengisi also had the opportunity to introduce and highlight some of the pressing challenges faced by residents in Langa, including issues affecting young people, families, and community wellbeing.

We are blessed to have joined hands with various community movements and organisations committed to social justice, dignity, and meaningful change. We extend our sincere gratitude to our hosts, Movement for Change and Social Justice, for creating a platform where grassroots voices could be heard and shared.

It was inspiring to stand alongside organisations and movements such as Qula Kwedini, Artivism24 Production, Amadoda Aqotho, Back to Work, Ramaphosa Informal Settlement, Gugulethu Neighbourhood Watch, and many others who continue to advocate for the rights and wellbeing of our people.

We are also honoured to have shared the platform before the General Secretary of the South African Federation of Trade Unions (SAFTU), Comrade Zwelinzima Vavi. Opportunities such as these remind us of the importance of unity, collaboration, and collective action in addressing the challenges facing our communities.

Together, we continue to amplify the voices of the excluded and work towards a more just, equal, and compassionate society.

is deeply honoured and grateful to have been part of the Child Protection Week Peaceful March coordinated by Project Playground last week.

Our representative, Lutho Lengisi, had the privilege of delivering the opening message of support, highlighting the importance of communities working together to create safe environments for children. He emphasized that child protection is everyone's responsibility and challenged all stakeholders to reflect on the roles they can play in ensuring that every child grows up in a safe, caring, and supportive community.

The march brought together various stakeholders committed to the wellbeing of children, including Just Grace, the Department of Social Development in Langa, Lovelife, Vusa Academy, community members, and many other partners.

As , we believe that protecting children requires collective action, strong partnerships, and a shared commitment to building communities free from violence, abuse, and neglect. We thank Project Playground for creating this important platform and all stakeholders who continue to work tirelessly to safeguard the rights and futures of our children.

Together, we can create a safer Langa for every child.💚💚💚✊🏿
