World Elder Abuse Awareness Day - 15 June

Every older person deserves to feel safe, respected, and valued.

Today, as we observe World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, we reflect on this year's theme: "Beyond Awareness: Making Elder Abuse Prevention Work."

At the Issy Geshen Lamont Home for the Aged, we are privileged to care for and support elderly residents every day. This day reminds us that protecting older persons is not only the responsibility of caregivers and organisations—it is a responsibility shared by families, friends, neighbours, and communities.

By listening, speaking up, showing kindness, and looking out for one another, we can help prevent elder abuse and ensure that our seniors continue to live with dignity, respect, and the care they deserve.

Together, let us create communities where every older person feels valued, protected, and loved.

Because growing older should never mean becoming invisible.

A Fresh Cut, A Brighter Day ✂️😊

Nothing quite puts a smile on your face like a fresh new haircut! Our residents always look forward to their monthly grooming sessions, which leave them feeling refreshed, confident, and cared for.

A heartfelt thank you to the Mobile Barber team for generously giving free monthly haircuts for our elderly residents. Your kindness and commitment to giving back bring more than just neat hairstyles - you bring joy, dignity, and smiles to those we serve.

We are truly grateful for your ongoing support and for helping our residents look and feel their very best. ❤️

Spreading Love & Warmth

Our residents at the Issy Geshen Lamont Home for the Aged have been hard at work preparing for Mandela Day, thanks to generous donations of wool received from our valued supporters.

With skill, dedication and love, our elderly residents are crocheting a variety of handmade items that will be donated to a local children's home. This annual initiative allows our residents to actively give back to the community while sharing their talents and spreading warmth to those in need.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has contributed wool and supported this meaningful project. Your generosity not only provides materials but also creates opportunities for our residents to remain engaged, purposeful and connected to the spirit of service that Mandela Day represents.

Together, we are proving that kindness knows no age and that every stitch made is a stitch of love.

🌸 *Mother’s Day Pampering Session* 🌸

In celebration of upcoming Mother's Day festivities, the residents at the Issy Geshen Lamont Home enjoyed a special pampering session filled with care, laughter, and relaxation. 💖

The day included beauty treatments, grooming, and meaningful moments that made our mothers feel appreciated, valued, and loved. Seeing the smiles on their faces reminded us how important it is to honour and celebrate the incredible women who have nurtured generations.

Thank you to everyone who contributed towards making the day special for our residents. 🌷✨
