Last Friday, we facilitated a reading comprehension activity with the Grade 4 learners at Nompucuko S.P.S. The children participated enthusiastically, engaged with the text, and showed great excitement throughout the session.

A special thank you to the staff at Wycliffe Mlungisi Tsotsi Public Library, for supplying us with reading materials for our session. Your support is helping us create meaningful opportunities for our learners. 📚🌱

As we work towards opening the school library in partnership with Nompucuko, we are also appealing to anyone who is able to donate age-appropriate books, educational resources, or other learning materials. Every contribution, big or small, would be greatly appreciated and will help us build a valuable reading and learning space for the children.

đź“© If you would like to donate or support the project, please DM or WhatsApp us.

Together, we can help nurture a love for reading and make learning resources more accessible to our children.

Training for our Save our Ocean, Protect Our Rivers Fun.

The purpose for this run is to raise awareness about ocean and river pollution, our community like most is riddle with litter. And a way in which we can solve this problem is to come up with systems that can minimise and hopefully in the long run eliminate this problem of littering. Tackling such issues requires collaboration from a community stakeholders.

We want the kids to learn more about how their actions impact nature. We have our EnviroClub that teaches them about environmental awareness, we are so proud of them as they have really started to participate in caring for the planet, as well as their enthusiasm for the projects we started this year - recycling project and school garden.

We train quite early so many were unable to join us this week.

We believe in making the most of the resources available to us to meet the needs of our learners. As an organisation with limited resources, we find creative ways to keep children intellectually and socially engaged. We have introduced educational games made from recycled cardboard into our after-school programme, allowing learners who have completed their work to continue learning, playing and interacting with others in a fun and meaningful way.

Youth Global Citizens Summit

Back in July, we held our very first Youth Global Citizens Summit in partnership with our local library, Wycliffe Mlungisi Tsotsi Public Library. Which was a three day event.

One of the challenges we face during the school holidays is low attendance. However, the learners who did attend truly enjoyed the activity and participated enthusiastically.

The activity was geography-themed. The learners were divided into three groups, and each group randomly selected a country from a hat. They then researched their chosen country and prepared a short presentation to introduce it to the other groups. They shared information such as the country's location, culture, people, food, language and interesting facts.

The activity encouraged teamwork, research, creativity and learning about different countries and cultures.
