@ our WECCF meeting in Kariega where we had our robust discussion about the planned oil and gas drilling around our coast line and the impact it would have on the marine life and the livelihoods of fishermen and communities in the areas.

Today we had our monthly ECCEF meeting in Kwa- nobuhle Kariega, where we had intense discussions about the planned development of a green ammonia plant in Coega (NMB) and GREEN HYDROGEN - how it is produced and why it is the 'prefered' choice and included in the JET energy mix as renewable energy (RE)and if it is really RE.
We will be keeping an eye as the developments unfold ensuring all the necessary protocols and bylaws are followed especially public participation meetings.

Yesterday ECCEF & ELA had their first meeting, recapping and doing introspection on the previous year, giving suggestions and planning on how we need year 2025 to look like.

We then had a discussion on the Nuclear program that was brought back to the Public in the form of Small Modular Reactors(SMR's),
that was evident by experiencing loadshedding in the past weekend so as to justify for the introduction of this technology, this robust discussion about this technology was led by Neil Overy.

However no evidence from previous experience of building Nuclear Power Station that SMR's design will results in cost saving.

We can't allow the introduction technology that requires high level of secrecy and centralised control in our country!

Our Government is compelled to make energy choices which are "sustainable"and "affordable"and which facilitate energy access for the improvement of quality of life of the people,SMR's cannot meet these expectations.

We should pursue Renewable technologies as they are the only technologies able to deliver energy Justice and a meaningful Just Energy Transition for our country! ✊🏿
