The Department of Social Development Gauteng (DSD) is the primary funder of our Child and Youth Care Centers. However, the government subsidy we receive from DSD only covers a third of the actual cost of care for a child when taking into account the cost of energy (electricity), fuel, food, and HR. For instance, none of the salaries of our 25 Child and Youth Care Workers, who are the moms and dads to the children, are subsidised by DSD. Mogale City charges us the most expensive electricity rates possible. And the cost of fuel to transport the kids safely to schools have skyrocketed. Food, fuel, finances – we need your help.
