After a lot of thought and a lot of encouragement from friends and family, I have finally decided to share my story on the past year.
So much have happened, and I have had a lot of enquiries with regards to our Free Daycare in Secunda, Mpumalanga.
April of 2025 I was approached by a (then) friend, and offered to hire a flatlet on his premises for the purpose of opening the planned free daycare. I politely declined, as I was actually in search of a loose standing house, with it's own yard, and the unit was in dire condition.
Around June 2025, the owner of this unit approached me again, and again offering me the unit at the fair price of R4000 p.m. for the next five years, water included, with prepaid electricity.' I just only have to make this unit usable, as he is unable to meet his financial requirements, and I thus agreed to the said price, as long as I / Kids 4 Change fix up the place ourselves. At this point it was mid-year, and I am not finding what I am looking for at a fair price.
My reasoning: I promised myself to have a school by year end, and if I don't start now, my self-made promise, will probably not realize.
I agreed, and we had a verbal agreement with witnesses. I will rent the place for the next 5 years, at R4000 pm and electricity for my own expense.
I immediately started with renovations. Dipped into my savings and maxed out my credit card, because I truly believed in my dream. *See photos attached*
In the meantime I managed to secure funding for the year of 2026, via a fundraiser in Kids 4 Change's honor. I was happy working day and night to secure my dream of a having safe spaces for children in unsafe environments.
Around September the owner of this unit approached me and asked if I knew of someone at the local municipality who could help him with a problem. Of course I did, and came to find out, that my 'friend' was not truthful, and was actually using electricity without paying.
And after helping him make arrangements, and actively finding him a job, I thought I did my part. I continued, against several warnings from friends and colleagues, to devote all of my time, energy and money to complete my first Free Daycare,
while still handling my charity responsibilities and caring for families and kids who rely on me.
On 31 October 2025, we have our first free Daycare's Open Day.
We confirm our sponsors who came to investigate, and they agree to the fundraiser.
On the 16th of November 2025, the owner sent a message saying if I do not agree to pay the amount of R6200 pm for the unit, he will not rent it to me anymore. Exactly the amount he have to pay back on the electricity arrangement. Obviously, I refused.
What followed was a small claims court case, that couldn't assist, because most of the cash receipts and payments were made out to Kids 4 Change NPC, and small claims court referred our case to court and suggested I hire a lawyer.
I have never received a cent back, and he is still working at the job I organized.
I lost all sponsorship in Secunda, because I had to move to the West Rand and join my hubby who just bought a house on the West Rand.

I hope it answer's everyone's questions. I am still operational with my dream, but only started later this year.
Kids 4 Change now have a free Daycare in Krugersdorp West, that opened it's doors on the 1st April 2026, and is currently providing between 15 - 25 kids on a daily basis with three meals a day, and competitive learning and life skills.
Although not the house I wanted, I am still: grateful, operational. and blessed.
Still unlocking potential everyday.
This taught me to trust no else, but my heavenly Father, who has always had the right plan.
I just lacked the patience...
