[20-YEAR-OLD ARRESTED FOR POSSESSION OF SUSPECTED STOLEN VEHICLE]

A 20-year-old man has been arrested in Maokeng for possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle.

On Sunday, 28 June 2026, at about 06:30, members of the Kroonstad K9 Unit were conducting routine patrols in Maokeng when they noticed a suspicious vehicle without registration plates parked outside a residence in Constantia Park. A male occupant was seated inside the vehicle.

As police officers approached, the suspect exited the vehicle and attempted to flee the scene on foot. Police members gave chase and successfully apprehended him. The suspect was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the origin or ownership of the vehicle.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle had been hijacked in the Maokeng area on Saturday night.

The suspect is expected to appear soon in the Kroonstad Magistrate's Court on a charge of possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle.

On 1/6/2026 @ 00h00 a patroller received a call of cable theft in Fourie str. Within 10min 3 suspects were arrested and due to camera footage and a vigilant resident, they were possitively linked to the cable theft. A case was opened and SAPS will take it further

We thank the community for their prompt action, Patrollers, Blackhawk and Corcomm.
