The Simanga Family,
Comrades, Friends and Colleagues,
We gather here today with heavy hearts to bid farewell to a committed cadre, a dedicated leader and a selfless servant of the working class, Comrade Thuliswa Simanga.
Cde Thuliswa was not only a leader in title but in action. She carried the responsibility of leadership with humility, discipline and unwavering commitment to the ideals of our union. During her tenure as the Acting Regional Deputy Chairperson for the term 2015 to 2019, she rose to the occasion at a critical time in our region, providing stability, guidance and principled leadership.
She understood that leadership is not about position, but about service. She worked tirelessly to strengthen the organisation, to unite workers and to ensure that the voice of NEHAWU members remained strong and fearless. Her contribution during a period of transition demonstrated her resilience, courage and loyalty to the movement.
Cde Thuliswa was a firm believer in worker unity and social justice. She stood at the forefront of defending workers’ rights, always ensuring that the most vulnerable were not left behind. She leaves while workers face many austerity measures, among those the non payment of resolution 1 of 2018 (a cry that will forever remain for workers), and while NEHAWU is championing the permanent employment of CHWs across the country.
As NEHAWU, we dip our revolutionary banner in honour of a fallen cadre. She has run her race. She has fought a good fight. She has kept the faith.
May her soul rest in eternal peace.
Hamba kahle, Qabane. Lala ngoxolo.
