TLC Hospice Kokstad

TLC Hospice Kokstad TLC is a well-established NGO that reaches out to people who are in desperate need of home based palliative care in the Greater Kokstad community.

Teresa and Di's original vision was to help cancer patients in their dying days. However, after attending a Palliative Care Course provided by Hospice they realized that their focus would have to include patients who were adversely affected by HIV/Aids. Being situated in rural Kwa-Zulu Natal, HIV/Aids was rampant and there was a huge need to provide these patients with palliative care services in

the home environment. TLC Home Services was then registered as an NGO. TLC Home Services, comes from humble beginnings with an initial budget of R200. Teresa and Di used their personal vehicles and undertook to care for these patients on their own. In April 2011 TLC moved into the iThembalabantu ('Hope for the People') Centre, which in the heart of Shayamoya, Kokstad. This world class community care centre was constructed, on land donated by the Greater Kokstad Municipality, by Respond! Housing Association and Sivile! Ireland, in partnership with the Catholic Diocese of Kokstad. Thanks to the generosity of these donors, TLC is now more accessible to the community that we serve.
