In 2025, KET stood alongside 67 ECD centres in our region, reaching 2,752 children. 72% of four- to five-year-olds in our partner centres ended the year developmentally on track for school — better than provincial and national averages. 97% of parents say they're satisfied with their centre.

These are wonderful numbers. But behind every one of them is a practitioner like Thelma Mtwa. In 2010 she opened her home to four children. Fifteen years on, Wonderland Educare is registered and subsidised, and her daughter teaches there as a qualified practitioner.

Our 2025 Annual Report — South Africa's Most Important Investment: Powered by Practitioners — is full of stories like Thelma's.

To everyone who has supported KET this year: thank you. You're not just funding a programme. You're standing with the women who are raising a generation 💛

Some places have a magic that is hard to put into words. Knysna is one of them.

This book was born from a simple idea: to invite our community to capture that magic in stories. We asked the public to put pen to paper and share what Knysna means to them. The response was extraordinary. From the stories submitted, we chose seven – each one unique, each one alive with the spirit of this remarkable place – and brought them to life with beautiful illustrations.

But this is more than a storybook. Hidden in the middle you will find a treasure map – because every adventure needs one. And after each story, you will find activities designed to bring the magic off the page: things to do together in Knysna, and at home, that deepen the joy of reading and exploring.

Every copy of this book makes a difference. The proceeds go directly to early childhood development centres in Knysna – helping to create safer, better-resourced spaces where young children can learn, grow and thrive,

Visit our office at 34 Queen Street, Knysna Central to secure your copy for R270.

Let's talk about preschool fees 💛

Only 51% of ECD centres in Knysna get a government subsidy — and even then, it doesn't cover the full cost of food, salaries, and admin.

Your fees fill that gap. Without them, the centre couldn't stay open.

Our ECD practitioners are teachers, yes - but they're also so much more. They're the steady hands and warm hearts that shape a child's very first experience of the world outside home. They settle tears, celebrate tiny milestones, and create a sense of safety and belonging every single day.

And they do it all with so little - stretched budgets, basic resources, and not nearly enough recognition for how hard the work really is.

That's where we come in. KET exists to be the backbone behind these incredible practitioners - through training, support, and resources that help them do what they do best, even when the odds aren't in their favour.

To every practitioner working across our 75 partner centres: thank you. You are the heart of ECD, and we'll keep showing up for you. ❤️

Are you investing where it matters most? 🧠

The science is clear: 90% of your child's brain develops before age 5. What happens in those early years shapes everything that comes after.

Preschool isn't a luxury. It's the most important investment you'll ever make in your child's future.

Africa Rally

The is an epic 21 day journey through 5 countries and over 5,000km’s.
The rally officially start in South Africa and end in Tanzania. We decided to join the rally because it sounds like an amazing adventure of a lifetime, but we will also use this opportunity to fundraise for a cause close to home - the Knysna Education Trust (KET).

KET envision a future where all children in our municipal area are thriving and ready for school by the age of six—well-nourished, healthy, safe, and reaching key developmental milestones across emotional, physical, social, and cognitive domains. With this strong foundation, children are better equipped to succeed in school and, ultimately, in life—helping to build a more equal and prosperous society and break the cycle of intergenerational poverty.

We have set up a fundraising page via Given Gain, should you wish to support us in raising funds for this worthy cause!
Our page can be accessed via the link in our bio or by scanning the QR code in the photo.
