WeCan Home Care NGO visionary and Founder, Julia Puleng Mazibuko Passes Away
Fondly referred to as “Gogo” or Principal, Puleng Mazibuko 63, is the founder and board member of the WeCan Home Care and WeCan School for the disabled, passed away on Thursay24th November 2022.
Along with six pioneers, they founded WeCan Educare Centre and WeCan Home Care, NGOs in 2012, a passion for the severely disabled community – children living with multiple disabilities. Mazibuko held the position of the Chairwoman and Chief Executive Officer from that time till her untimely passing.
Prior to founding WeCan Group, Ms Mazibuko served as an outstanding teacher in various primary schools before finally being a principal at Ithuseng Primary School. With her background in education, Ms Mazibuko saw the need for a future of inclusive education and integration of the marginalised into the socio-economic fibre of society. Puleng was a visionary leader who navigated the NGO through unprecedent times and challenges. Well-known and respected throughout the education fraternity, her strategy ensured WeCan Group spearheads the caring for learners with severe to profound intellectual disability and empower families and community members to do the same.
Ms Mazibuko was a born teacher passionate for educating not only learners, but her staff and community at large on God-centred living and being a person of value in the community through serving others.
To ensure that her legacy continues, JPS Mazibuko Foundation is established to further advance the needs of the severely disabled community and advocate for their education and inclusiveness in society.
