We'll be talking about our shared coastline – how Overstrand and the City of Cape Town can work together to amplify tourism along Clarence Drive and bring more visitors, jobs and opportunity to our villages – as well as the broader economic growth strategy for Overstrand. There will be an open Q&A session, so bring your questions.

Joining me will be DA candidates Theresa Els, Wayne Jackson, Stephen Williams and Fanie Krige.

Thank you to everyone who joined the Hangklip-Kleinmond Business Forum’s Accommodation and Tourism Think Tank at Kleinmond Public Library on 23 September.
Local businesses and community representatives shared ideas for helping visitors discover more of our coastal villages, from places to stay and eat to nature, activities and events. A common theme was the value of working together while retaining each village’s character.
An initial committee has been formed to take the discussion forward. Leon Prinsloo will serve as initial chair, alongside members Tanya Buxmann, Tjaart Steenekamp and Jeremy Squier.
The committee will now consider the ideas raised and agree on practical next steps. We’ll share updates here as the work progresses.

📢 Open Invitation: Accommodation & Tourism Think Tank

Following our recent networking evening and direct engagement with the Overstrand Executive Mayor, the Hangklip-Kleinmond Business Forum (HKBF) is taking the next major step in our destination marketing strategy.

The Mayor has officially promised us an audience with the Municipal Manager to discuss the future of tourism in our region. To prepare for this critical engagement and to formally establish our new Accommodation and Tourism Committee, we are hosting an open-agenda brainstorming session.

This is a collective effort. Whether you run a guesthouse, a restaurant, or an activity or service-based business, your voice is essential to shape how we market the Kogelberg as a unified destination.

What an incredible turnout at our latest Hangklip-Kleinmond Business Forum networking evening! 🤝 A massive thank you to Leon and Annalize Prinsloo for hosting us at the beautiful Moments Guesthouse Kleinmond, WC, to Deetlefs W**e Estate for supplying the wines, and to every local business owner who brought their energy and ideas to the table.

We were honored to be joined by a diverse group of local political leaders from across the spectrum, including Overstrand Mayor Archie Klaas, incoming mayoral candidate Clinton Lerm, Councillor Stephen Williams, and Ward 9 candidate Wayne Jackson, furthermore, local Councillor Malcolm Grimbeek and our very own Vice Chair, Tyrone Allan, also a Ward 9 candidate. Having such a broad spectrum of local leadership actively engaging with us is a huge step toward building a stronger, more unified and supported community.

The big takeaway? We are stronger together.
By shifting our focus to marketing Kleinmond as a unified destination, we can lift up every local business. We discussed an exciting new initiative to establish a dedicated support and marketing body for our accommodation providers, utilizing frameworks from FEDHASA. To support this connected approach, our Vice Chair, Tyrone Allan, is spearheading a new smart tech initiative: interactive NFC table talkers for local venues. With a simple smartphone tap, visitors will be instantly linked to local activities, eateries, and experiences, creating a seamless digital network across town.

We’re hitting the ground running!

We will be scheduling an open-invitation strategy session soon to officially formalize our new tourism and marketing body. Keep an eye on this page for the details!
