Lizelle Muller is a 48 year old mother from Kimberley, South Africa, devoted to her 13 year old son who lives with autism and severe ADHD. She is a loving wife and mom whose world revolves around caring for her family.

Without the support of medical aid, Lizelle underwent a neck operation at a government hospital. Sadly, due to complications following the surgery, she lost functional use of her left arm and left leg. Since then, her life has changed dramatically.

Lizelle is currently bound to a secondhand manual wheelchair, which she cannot operate independently because of the limited function in her left arm. To regain her independence, she urgently needs an electric wheelchair that she can control herself. This would allow her the freedom to move around independently, better care for her son and participate more fully in daily life.

Simple daily activities have become significant challenges. She struggles to transfer safely from her wheelchair to the toilet because of its height and requires a toilet height extension to make transfers safer and more manageable. She is also unable to stand in the shower, as her left leg cannot support her weight and urgently needs a safe shower chair to prevent falls and injury.

Despite these hardships, Lizelle remains hopeful. She has a strong desire to become more independent, not only to take better care of herself, but to be the present, capable mother and wife she longs to be.

Kimberley Upliftment Project NPC wants to help Lizelle achieve this dream. We are reaching out to our community and beyond to support her in obtaining the essential equipment she needs to live with dignity and independence.

A formal quotation has been obtained for the required assistive devices, including the electric wheelchair, toilet height extension, and shower chair totaling to R33,555.

Please help us make Lizelle’s dream a reality. Your donation, no matter how small, can make a meaningful difference in her life and the life of her family.

Project MOBILITY has kicked off! All glory and praise to our Heavenly Father πŸ™ŒπŸ». Today we donated the first mobility aid to a deserving recipient temporarily residing at Kimberley Hospice.

There is a huge need for mobility aids like wheelchairs and walking devices. So, if you have any unused ones lying around, feel free to donate them to us. We will make sure that a deserving person receives it.

We are excited to launch Project Mobility!

Our local community is filled with people suffering with poor mobility due to age, illness, injuries or disabilities. The SouthAfrican National Guidelines on Provision of Assistive Devices purportedly guarantee access for all those who need them.

However, while a physically disabled person may be technically entitled to a wheelchair or other assistive device, a severe lack of devices and overly long waiting lists means that this right is often not actualised, especially for those living in poorer or rural areas.

The aim of Project MOBILITY is to identify the need of assistive mobility aids in our local low and middle income community and to create an assistive devices bank. This bank will be supplied by kind donations of second hand devices still in good and safe condition and we will make use of generous financial donations to purchase assistive devices to also fill this bank.

These devices will be donated to the people in need in our local community.

Drop of zones for donated moblity aids are at the following venues:
