Community Capacity Enhancement (CCE) Programme Summary
During May 2026, Mfesane Christianity in Action successfully facilitated the Community Capacity Enhancement (CCE) Programme within the Booysen Park community. The programme was implemented through collaboration with various community stakeholders, including the South African Police Service Chatty Police Station, IPM (I Protect Me), Akanani Good Shepherd Mission, Booysen Park Primary and High School SGB Representatives, Alphonso Arries Primary School SGB Representative, AFM Church representatives and pastor, community and youth leaders, as well as the Mfesane team.
The programme focused on strengthening community participation and stakeholder collaboration in addressing social and behavioral challenges, with a primary focus on HIV prevention and reduction through the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) model. Community mobilization and stakeholder engagement were conducted through door-to-door visits, telephonic communication, emails, distribution of pamphlets, and invitation letters to relevant stakeholders and community structures.
The sessions created a platform for information sharing, community dialogue, stakeholder networking, and collaborative problem-solving around issues affecting the community. The programme further encouraged collective ownership, active participation, and strengthening of local support systems to promote sustainable social and behavioural change within the Booysen Park area.
