Harley‑Davidson XLCR 1000 Café Racer (1977–1979)
The XLCR 1000 was Harley’s boldest gamble, a café racer styled by Willie G. Davidson, built on the Sportster platform but dressed in blacked‑out bodywork and sharp lines. Its 997 cc V‑twin produced ~61 hp, and while it was too radical for Harley’s traditional buyers, its rarity and daring design have made it a cult classic. Today, the XLCR stands as proof that Harley once dared to break the mold.
