Villa Lethemba 2 Blignault Street, Van Riebeeck Park, Kemtpon Park, Johannesburg We currently have 11 boys and girls living here, who have long-term care needs.

Villa Lethemba is one of the Special Needs Home in the AFM Welfare system that focusses on providing long-term and palliative care to children affected/infected with HIV Aids (who are unwell), suffer from life-threatening medical conditions, have Cerebral Palsy, hydroencephaly or similar conditions which affect their ability to function as "normal".This home is specially equipped to deal with the 24 hour care of children who cannot function on their own - sometimes including children on full-time oxygen or with feeding tubes. The staff are specially trained to deal with advanced medical conditions, and the centre manager has many years experience in looking after these special children.With the collaboration of sponsors and the local AFM church, this project has been looking after special kiddies for the last ten years. We have lost a few of the precious lives, and have seen a few graduate to families of their own - beating the odds against their terrible prognoses and proving all the doctors wrong! This home is also being renovated to create more space for our growing children, who -despite having bad medical conditions - still grow tall and heavy. Thank you so much for all your prayers for little A. ❤️

After an operation lasting more than 4 hours, she finally has her new pacemaker. 🙏 What a relief!

Aunty H shed a few tears yesterday. It is incredibly difficult to watch one of your children go through so much pain, and to feel helpless while they endure it.

Thankfully, the hardest part is now behind them, and A should be much better with her new pacemaker. She will remain in ICU for a couple of days so that the doctors can keep a close eye on her and make sure she heals properly.

Please continue to keep little A, Aunty H and her wonderful caregiver in your prayers. ❤️🙏

💗 Please keep our sweet A in your thoughts today. 💗

Aunty H had to be at the hospital before 7 this morning as A is having a new pacemaker fitted. She has been in hospital for a couple of days, and today is the big day. 🙏

Please spare a thought and a prayer for A, Aunty H, and the wonderful caregiver who is by her side, keeping her calm and caring for her while she recovers in hospital and later at home. ❤️

People often ask why a home like Villa Le Themba needs 2 day carers, 2 night carers, Aunty H, our house mother, and a cleaner.

The answer is simple: our children need constant care. Some attend school and need transport, others need regular clinic visits for specialised treatment, and some cannot travel without a caregiver. At the same time, the children who remain at home still need care and supervision.

Unfortunately, this month we don't have enough funding to pay our staff their salaries. Our staff earn the minimum, but give so much every day to care for our vulnerable children.

We desperately need individuals and companies willing to make regular monthly donations to help us pay our staff and keep Villa Le Themba running.

Even R10 a month can make a difference when many people contribute. ❤️

We can issue Section 18A certificates for donations.

Donations of food, toiletries, cleaning materials, electricity and vouchers are also greatly appreciated.
