Yesterday, 1 September, we kicked off our first Arbor Month event at Bonwelong Primary School in partnership with Johannesburg City Parks & Zoo. Together, we planted 10 shade trees and 3 fruit trees, creating a greener space for learners to learn, play and grow. 🌱🍊

Here’s to planting today for a greener city and healthier communities tomorrow! 💚

🌊💙 August Theme: Women and Water: The Heart of Sustainable Communities

This Women's Month, we celebrate the incredible role women play in protecting our most precious resource water. From nurturing families and communities to leading environmental action, women are at the heart of building a more sustainable and water-secure future.

Together, let's honour the women who inspire change, champion conservation, and remind us that every drop counts. By protecting water today, we empower healthier communities and create a lasting legacy for generations to come.

💧 Because when women thrive, communities flourish—and when we protect water, we protect life.

We wrapped up Mandela Month with a bang! 💚🌱

The Green Development Foundation proudly concluded a month of meaningful impact by hosting our Mandela Day Initiative at Phuthanang Training Centre for the Disabled.

Together with our valued stakeholders and dedicated volunteers, we established a food garden, planted two fruit trees and one shade tree, donated essential gardening equipment, and handed over 50 chairs to provide beneficiaries with a more comfortable learning environment. To make the space even more inspiring, we are also creating a vibrant mural wall painting that will reflect hope, inclusion, and environmental stewardship.

Our day of giving continued at Tsepang Care Centre, where, in partnership with ESTEEM Church, we donated school shoes to learners, helping them walk confidently towards a brighter future.

As we close out Mandela Month, we are reminded that true impact is created through collaboration, compassion, and action. A heartfelt thank you to all our stakeholders, partners, volunteers, and supporters who made this initiative a resounding success. Together, we continue to build greener, stronger, and more inclusive communities.

The Road Accident Fund Mandela Day 2026 Initiative continues to grow, with every site leaving a lasting legacy of hope, sustainability, and inclusion. 🌱💚

This time, our teams were on the ground at Ithembilihle Protective Workshop in Mpumalanga and Obomi Bam Disability Service NPC in East London, Eastern Cape, Kanana Disabled Day Care Center in Free State. Together with committed volunteers, we established food gardens through tree and vegetable planting while donating gardening equipment, seedlings, seed trays, wheelbarrows, colour-coded recycling bins, and fruit trees to empower these centres for years to come.

Every garden we plant is a seed of opportunity, strengthening food security, promoting environmental stewardship, and creating inclusive spaces where communities can thrive. Together, we are proving that the spirit of Mandela lives on through meaningful action and sustainable impact.
