We wrapped up Mandela Month with a bang! 💚🌱

The Green Development Foundation proudly concluded a month of meaningful impact by hosting our Mandela Day Initiative at Phuthanang Training Centre for the Disabled.
Together with our valued stakeholders and dedicated volunteers, we established a food garden, planted two fruit trees and one shade tree, donated essential gardening equipment, and handed over 50 chairs to provide beneficiaries with a more comfortable learning environment. To make the space even more inspiring, we are also creating a vibrant mural wall painting that will reflect hope, inclusion, and environmental stewardship.

Our day of giving continued at Tsepang Care Centre, where, in partnership with ESTEEM Church, we donated school shoes to learners, helping them walk confidently towards a brighter future.
As we close out Mandela Month, we are reminded that true impact is created through collaboration, compassion, and action. A heartfelt thank you to all our stakeholders, partners, volunteers, and supporters who made this initiative a resounding success. Together, we continue to build greener, stronger, and more inclusive communities.

Our journey continued at Sonke Care Centre in kzn, where we joined hands with dedicated volunteers to create a lasting impact through environmental action and community empowerment.
The day focused on establishing sustainable food gardens by planting fruit trees and vegetables, while donating seedlings, seed trays, and colour-coded recycling bins to support long-term food security and environmental stewardship.

Together, we are cultivating more than gardens—we are growing opportunities, promoting inclusion, and leaving a legacy of hope for generations to come.

As part of the Mandela Day 2026 Initiative in partnership with , Buti Green proudly facilitated hands-on education on how to plant vegetable seedlings, equipping volunteers and community members with practical skills to establish and maintain sustainable food gardens🌱

Our first stop at Eersterust Care & Training Centre for Children with Special Needs was filled with learning, teamwork, and purpose. Together, we planted fruit trees and vegetable seedlings, shared sustainable gardening techniques, revitalised the space with colourful murals, and donated essential gardening resources to support the garden’s long-term success. 🌳🎨🪴🫜🌱

As Buti Green, I believe that creating lasting impact starts with sharing knowledge. By teaching communities how to grow their own food, we’re helping build resilience, strengthen food security, and cultivate a greener future for generations to come.

For two inspiring days, we came together to honour the legacy of Nelson Mandela through action, service, and environmental stewardship. 💚🌳

Under this year's Mandela Day theme, "It's still in our hands to combat poverty and inequality," we planted trees, 🌳 cleaned our communities, 🚮 and opened the doors to nature by giving away 67 free tickets at each of the Joburg Zoo, Pretoria Zoo, Pretoria National Botanical Gardens, and Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden.✨💃

Day 1 ✅ at Pretoria National Botanical Garden saw the Deputy Minister of the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) join us in tree planting activities from sunrise to sunset across multiple locations. Day 2✅at the Joburg Zoo was equally impactful, with the City of Joburg's MMC joining the celebrations as communities united for a greener, more inclusive future.✨

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible partners IUCN, SANBI, Joburg Zoo, Cherry South Africa, and She Evolves for making this initiative a success. Together, we're proving that through collaboration and meaningful action, we can build stronger communities and a healthier planet.🎉
