INVESTING IN THE YOUTH, TO BUILD STONGER COMMUNITIES
Today, the SIOC-CDT Stakeholder Relations and Communications Unit proudly handed over a complete football kit, with i.e. soccer boots, shinguards, soccer balls, grip socks etc, and accessories to the Kathu United Football Club (KUFC). The donation included branded marketing materials such as a gazebo, banners and chairs — equipping the club with more than just sporting essentials, but also the tools to strengthen its presence and engagement within the community.
Made possible through the SIOC-CDT Community Dictionary Grant Fund, the handover event took place in Gamagara Mine’s CIVOS sport precinct. This contribution reflects the Trust’s ongoing commitment to supporting community-driven initiatives that promote arts, sports and cultural development, while fostering social cohesion among the Trust’s beneficiary communities.
Beyond the football pitch, this investment is about creating opportunities for our young people to discover their talents, build discipline, develop teamwork and pursue positive pathways. By strengthening community sports, we aim to help keep young people engaged in constructive activities and reduce their vulnerability to substance abuse and other social challenges.
As we celebrate 20 Years of Impact-Trust-Building Resilient Communities, we remain committed to ensuring young people are empowered to thrive, local talent is nurtured, and meaningful opportunities are created for a brighter future.
