Working hours and overtime - agree on your working days, hours, and how overtime will be paid BEFORE you start.

Good day everyone🌹

I just want to share something important about documents and migrant workers.

If you are a migrant worker and your employer hired you without asking about your immigration status, but is now dismissing you because you do not have a valid work permit, please do not be afraid to ask for help. You may still be able to challenge the dismissal.

Please contact us within 30 days if you have been dismissed. Make sure you have some form of identification, such as your valid passport or asylum

Please also keep any proof of your employment, such as WhatsApp messages, payslips, bank statements or other records from your employer.

Let us also make sure that we record our overtime hours. If you do not have proof of the hours you worked, it can be difficult to claim unpaid overtime.

Where possible, let us avoid being paid in cash. Cash payments can make it difficult to prove how much you were earning, especially if you are being paid less than the National Minimum Wage.

A bank statement showing your salary payments is good evidence of how much you were paid each month.

Let us protect ourselves by keeping our documents safe and keeping proper records of our work, overtime and payments.
