A shared learning experience can open new ways of seeing the world.

Cyril Ramaphosa Foundation, together with its partner entity Adopt-a-School Foundation, and in partnership with Buffalo Logistics and the China Friendship Foundation for Peace and Development, hosted the 2026 Silk Road Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition at GIBS in Johannesburg.

The two-day exhibition formed part of the China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchange and brought together Chinese artists, South African learners, cultural stakeholders, government representatives, academic leaders, and members of the public.

Learners from Foundation-adopted schools engaged with Chinese painting and calligraphy through guided tours, cultural demonstrations, and direct exchanges with visiting artists.

The event created a platform for intercultural learning, dialogue, and connection, showing how exposure to different cultures can broaden perspective, encourage curiosity, and inspire young people to imagine new possibilities.

Through experiences like these, Cyril Ramaphosa Foundation continues to support learning that extends beyond the classroom and contributes to building a dynamic, inclusive, and empowered society.

For many young South Africans, education is not only a step toward a qualification. It is a step toward independence, confidence, and opportunity.

Through Cyril Ramaphosa Education Trust, young people are supported through a holistic bursary system that recognises that every student’s journey is different.

By supporting academic progress, personal development, and future readiness, CRET helps young people move closer to the futures they are working to build.

This is how education becomes long-term empowerment.

“Being a student means, number one, to be a leader, to be a great example.”

For Cyril Ramaphosa Education Trust student Craig Thamaga, education is not only about academic progress. It is also about leadership, growth, connection, and becoming a positive example to others.

Through Cyril Ramaphosa Education Trust, young people are supported beyond access to education, with opportunities to build confidence, develop skills, share ideas, and prepare for the future.

This Youth Month, we celebrate the voices of young people who are building their futures with purpose.

Be part of that impact.
Support education. Support the future.

Youth empowerment is more than a Youth Month message. It is about creating real pathways to education, dignity, confidence, and opportunity.

Through its partner entities, Cyril Ramaphosa Foundation supports young people by investing in education, enterprise development, skills development, and community-based programmes that help unlock long-term possibility.

This Youth Month, we reflect on what it means to support young people not only for where they are today, but for the future they are building.

“Like many young South Africans today, I had ambition, determination and hope but access to opportunity remained one of the biggest challenges.”

Cyril Ramaphosa Foundation’s interim CEO, Cyril Madiba, highlights how access to opportunity can change the trajectory of a young person’s life.

Through Cyril Ramaphosa Education Trust (CRET), 821 young people have been supported with tertiary education and holistic development opportunities. > https://cret.online/

Education has the power to change the trajectory of a life. Yet for many young South Africans, opportunity remains out of reach.

Through the work of the Cyril Ramaphosa Education Trust (CRET), access to education becomes access to possibility, unlocking futures, building confidence, and creating pathways forward.

Be part of that impact.
Support education. Support the future.
