A Proud Moment for Wits SASUF-SN

The Wits SASUF Coordinator Philangezwi Nozi Mbatha formed part of the panel discussion which explore the topic of “Multilateralism Partneships For African Higher Education Through The SASUF Experience”

Philangezwi emphasised how the expansion of SASUF is one that repositions African knowledge systems at the center of research,writing and publishing. Because of our colonial history, african knowledge has always been backgrounded and European research and knowledge systems has been foregrounded, however the work that SASUF-SN does through it academic collaboration commitee redefines this reality. Through partnering with NRF,STINT and AURA, the Student Network will drive the african knowledge production which is inclusive of all voice and perspectives to address shared global challenges.

We are excited to invite you all to the official launch of SASUF+!

The South Africa–Sweden University Forum+ (SASUF+) brings together 25 South African and 12 Swedish universities, collaborating to develop joint solutions to today’s global challenges.

Earlier this year, SASUF+ was awarded a new grant period by STINT, The Swedish Foundation for International Cooperation in Research and Higher Education and the The National Research Foundation of South Africa (NRF). This marks the start of SASUF+ (2025–2028) – a new chapter in strengthening research, education, and innovation partnerships.

On the 22nd of August 2025, this past Friday we had our official launch at Wits University through the office of the SRC Student Development and Support officer 24/25 . We were so overwhelmed with the reception of the Network by the Wits students and we are looking forward to the new members that will be joining the network
We would like to thank everyone that attended and the speakers that gave us amazing insights.
