The Lonehill Residents Association, established in 1996 is a non-profit organization whose focus is securing the greater Lonehill area including Lonehill East, Beverley and Pineslopes. The Lonehill Residents Association’s responsibility is one of CARE, to continuously improve all aspects of the community in which we live and work, including safety & security and our environment. In Lonehill, the e

mphasis is on ensuring community-based, family lifestyle in stunning surroundings with total peace of mind. Keeping Lonehill safe and secure is of paramount importance to the LRA. We encourage neighbours to look out for each other and for any signs of anything untoward, as caring and information sharing is key to community safety. However, the primary focus on securing our community is entrusted to the Fidelity Security Services Group. FSS is South Africa’s largest security firm which leads the market in providing innovative, value-added, customized security solutions. Working with the LRA, Fidelity provides a comprehensive security service that operates 24/7 from a dedicated control room in Lonehill providing guarding, armed response and electronic surveillance. The LRA also offers an Emergency Medical Response Service to the residents of Lonehill, Beverley & Pineslopes. This service is unique to Lonehill in that an Emergency Medical Response vehicle, manned by Advanced Life Support Paramedics, is stationed in Lonehill 24/7. Because of Lonehill’s small footprint, members are ensured that responses times to their emergency call is under 10 minutes. This essential service is only available to subscribers for a small monthly fee. Another unique service offered by the LRA are two dedicated apps, the mySOS emergency based app and the Lonehill Residents Association app. mySOS is designed to provide assistance in emergency situations. The application provides users with the correct contact information for emergency services, and informs users emergency contacts of their emergency and GPS location. This app is available to use across South Africa and is available free of charge. The LRA app is a communication based app giving users direct contact information for all municipal departments, including Jo’burg Water, Eskom, Jo’burg Roads Agency, City Power, etc. Resident can report water outages, potholes, power outages, etc. directly to the correct municipal department. Users also have access to contact details for the various municipal departments. Notifications are also sent by the LRA via the app to residents on security alerts, planned water and power outages, etc. For further information on the LRA and the products and services we offer, please e-mail [email protected] or contact 011 465 9196

❗️Community Update On The Ginger Park Eviction Process❗️

The owner of the Ginger Park Informal Settlement property continues to actively pursue the enforcement of the eviction order granted by the High Court in August last year, which directed that the occupants vacate the property by February 2026.

Despite the court order being granted several months ago, the enforcement process has experienced ongoing delays. According to information available, the City of Johannesburg (COJ) has indicated that it has not yet identified a TEA (Temporary Emergency Accommodation) site for the occupants. This has contributed significantly to the postponement of the ex*****on of the eviction order.

In addition, several new legal submissions opposing the eviction have recently been introduced by various human rights legal representatives. However, it is the owner’s position that the objection period expired following the granting of the order in August last year, and that these subsequent submissions serve only to further delay the lawful enforcement process.

The owner’s legal representatives are now preparing to approach the Registrar of the High Court to obtain a writ of ex*****on. Once issued, the Sheriff of the Court, together with law enforcement authorities, will be empowered to serve the writ on the occupants, facilitate their removal from the property, and oversee the demolition of unlawful structures erected on the site.

Before enforcement can proceed, the property owner is required to provide the Sheriff with a substantial monetary security deposit, estimated to be between R200,000 and R500,000. The owner is currently in the process of securing these funds. In addition, the owner will need to independently procure demolition equipment and related services at his own expense.

It remains the owner’s view that these costs should not ordinarily fall on the property owner, particularly given that the City of Johannesburg is legally responsible for facilitating the removal process in accordance with the court order.

While many members of the community remain understandably frustrated by the delays, residents are encouraged to remain patient and sympathetic to the legal and logistical complexities involved. The eviction process remains active and ongoing, and enforcement of the court order is expected to proceed once the outstanding requirements have been met.

At this stage, no definitive timeline can be confirmed.

Let’s get into the spirit of the Soccer World Cup and proudly stand behind Bafana Bafana by wrapping trees in green and yellow fabric outside your homes, at complex entrances, and road closures throughout Lonehill!

We’ve brought incredible World Cup spirit to Lonehill before, now let’s do it again and make our suburb come alive with colour, pride, and community spirit once more!

We would love to have Lonehill fully dressed and match-ready before 11 June, so start planning your green and yellow displays now.

Once your trees are wrapped, send us your photographs so we can share them with the community, spread the excitement, and inspire even more residents to join in the fun.

Let’s unite, show our support for Bafana Bafana, and turn Lonehill into a sea of green and yellow!

Wondering where our weed-eating machine is?‼️

Last week marked an exciting step forward as the aquatic harvester officially went into the water for its initial testing phase at Lonehill Dam.🌱

Following the first trial run, engineers identified a few minor technical refinements and adjustments that will further improve the machine’s efficiency and overall performance. The harvester has therefore briefly returned to the workshop while these final tweaks are made.🔨

This is all part of the testing and fine-tuning process, and we’re hopeful the machine will be back in action at the dam in no time.

We’ll continue keeping residents updated as progress unfolds - exciting times ahead!⭐️
