OPINION | In this new Daily Maverick piece, Neil Coleman warns that the dangerous anti-migrant mobilisation unfolding in South Africa risks unleashing devastating consequences, not only for migrants, but for poor people and workers more broadly. The real causes of insecurity cannot be addressed by scapegoating the most vulnerable.

Read:

The chaos that threatens to explode from this mobilisation will devastate not only migrants but all poor people and workers. Only reactionary political forces will benefit from promoting it.…

REPORT | South Africa’s G20 Presidency in a fragmented world

Six months after the Johannesburg Summit, many of the issues raised in the G20 Leaders’ Declaration remain unresolved: debt distress, climate finance, industrial policy, food security, AI governance, and reform of the international financial architecture.

Drawing on the IEJ’s engagement in the G20 process, this report analyses what South Africa achieved, where negotiations were diluted, and what the Declaration reveals about the state of multilateralism today.

Featuring:

• Dr Roelof Botha
• Dr Mzwanele Ntshwanti

Moderated by Dr Sizwe Mpofu-Walsh.
