Visit to Wits Origins Centre: An Educational Adventure

Today at Tshimangadzo Care Centre, the Ukukhanya Students and their Facilitators embarked on an exciting journey to the Wits Origins Centre Museum This visit was not just a field trip; it was a fascinating exploration of our planet's history and the evolution of humankind.

The Wits Origins Centre Museum is renowned for its extensive collection of fossil specimens and artifacts that illuminate the story of human evolution. Located at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, the museum offers visitors a chance to delve deep into the past, exploring how our ancestors survived in a world vastly different from our own. During our visit, we learned about life 1.4 million years ago, gaining insights into the challenges early humans faced and the innovative strategies they employed for survival.

One of the highlights of our tour was learning about various types of rocks and their significance in early human hunting practices. Understanding how these natural materials were used to create tools gave us a greater appreciation for the ingenuity of our ancestors and the critical role that geology played in their daily lives.

The students were incredibly engaged throughout the tour, asking insightful questions and interacting enthusiastically with our knowledgeable tour guide. Their curiosity and eagerness to learn made the experience even more enriching.

After our exploration of human evolution, we participated in a hands-on painting activity. Each student was given rocks to grind down into powder, which we then used to create our own unique artworks. This creative endeavor allowed us to connect with ancient techniques while expressing ourselves artistically. It was an incredible experience that fostered teamwork and creativity among the students.

Congratulations to Our Graduates!

Dear Graduates of the Computer and Sewing Class,

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to each and every one of you on this momentous occasion! Your hard work and dedication have culminated in a successful graduation ceremony on 5th September 2026, and we couldn't be prouder of your achievements.

Thank you for your commitment and perseverance, as well as your desire to go beyond basic learning. Your hunger for knowledge has set a remarkable example for others.

We would also like to take this opportunity to express our deep appreciation for Kendrick Baresi, our Computer Facilitator, whose unwavering dedication to teaching computer proficiency and beyond has inspired so many. Additionally, a special thank you goes to Alvin Johnson, our Sewing Facilitator, for his outstanding skills and commitment to helping our youth find their purpose through sewing.

Our gratitude extends to all our staff members and the Ukukhanya Program students for lighting up the ceremony with their vibrant performances. Your talents added a special touch to the celebration.
