AI is becoming an increasingly common part of homework and studying. Whether it's helping with homework at home, explaining difficult concepts, creating study plans, or generating practice questions, AI is changing the way students approach learning.

As AI becomes more accessible, an important question arises:

Should AI be treated like any other educational tool, or is it becoming a study partner that plays a more active role in a student's learning journey?

As parents and educators, we share the same goal: helping students build knowledge, confidence, independence, and critical thinking skills.

We'd love to hear your perspective:
- What role do you think AI should play in homework and studying?

Share your thoughts in the comments. We're interested in hearing from both parents and educators.

This week we have been looking at how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is changing the way students learn and complete homework. AI can help by explaining concepts, giving examples, and making studying faster. However, some people feel that it also does too much, with students relying on it instead of developing their own thinking skills.

Do you think AI is improving learning or harming it?

Share your opinion in the comments:
-It improves understanding and supports learning.
-It makes students rely too much on shortcuts.

A recent discussion on Anele Mdoda and the Club 947 breakfast show explored whether Artificial Intelligence (AI) is helping students to learn or making them too dependent on technology.

Some believe AI supports learning by helping learners understand concepts, while others worry it may reduce critical thinking and independent learning.AI is a tool and its impact depends on how it is used.

What do you think?

Artificial Intelligence is becoming a growing part of how students learn. From helping with research and explaining difficult concepts, to generating ideas and giving feedback. AI is changing the learning experience in powerful ways. For many students, AI can feel like a supportive guide-almost like a personal tutor that is available any time they need help understanding or getting started with ideas.

At the same time, there are also important concerns about how over-reliance on AI might affect independent thinking, creativity and problem solving skills.

This brings up an important question: how should we be using AI in education in a way that supports learning without replacing it?

What has your experience been like?

Through our iLizwe Lam program, we believe that empowering communities through digital inclusion starts with understanding the challenges people face online every day. Some of the most common challenges affecting families and learners include:

-Cyberbullying-Harmful messages ,exclusion or harassment happening through social media and messaging platforms.
- Online scams-Fake messages, fraud links, and impersonation attempts designed to trick others into sharing personal information.
-Screen time management- Difficulty balancing schoolwork, entertainment and wellbeing in an always digitally connected environment.
-Privacy concerns- Oversharing personal information or not fully understanding how data is collected and used online.

Building safer digital habits starts with:
-Protecting personal information
-Recognising suspicious messages and scams
-Managing screen time in a balanced way

By understanding these challenges, we take the first step towards creating a safer, smarter and more informed digital future.

Help us spread digital awareness by sharing with a parent, learner, educator or community member habits.

Our goal is to empower parents and learners with the skills and knowledge they need to navigate the digital world safely, responsibly and confidently.

Together we can build a safer digital future for our communities.
