Three speakers. One conversation every parent and educator should attend. 💬

Our third parent webinar is almost here, and we're honoured to introduce the voices leading it.

Faiza - Senior Project and Partner Manager at Siyafunda, currently serving as Executive Director & Centre Manager. Fiona wears many hats with ease: community partner manager, project coordinator, and master trainer across a range of initiatives.

Itumeleng - Educator, philanthropist, and Founder of SALSO (The South African Learner Support Organisation), a community-driven initiative empowering young people through education, mentorship, and holistic support.

Manqoba - Cybersecurity professional, entrepreneur, and author. Director of Inpassion Cybersecurity and Chief Operations Officer at CyberM8, with deep experience in cybersecurity awareness, governance, risk management, and compliance.

Together, they'll be exploring Think Before You Share: Raising Critical Thinkers in the Digital World - practical, honest ways to help children pause, question, and choose well with what they put online.

Today the digital world is bigger, louder and more complex. But so are the young people we work with.

Across South Africa, thousands of 13- to 18-year-olds have learned to ask better questions, set better boundaries and take up space safely.

Eight years ago, we created the iLizwe Lam programme because young people were already finding their place online - and the internet was moving faster than the conversations around it.

We're back with our third webinar, and this one speaks straight to the heart of raising kids today.

Think Before You Share: Raising Critical Thinkers in the Digital World | 30 September 2026 | Live on Zoom at 6pm.

Our children are growing up in a world of endless content, and it moves fast. How do we help them slow down, ask good questions, and make wise choices about what they believe and what they pass on?

This practical session is for parents and educators who want to feel more confident guiding young people through the digital world.

🗓️ Mark your calendar and invite a friend who'd love this too.

WhatsApp is an important part of how we communicate with friends and family.
As a parent or caregiver, understanding the platform’s privacy and safety settings can help you support how your child uses the platform as well.

From managing who can contact your child to understanding who can see their personal information, these settings can provide useful tools for creating a safer digital experience.

We know that keeping up with the digital platforms children use can sometimes feel overwhelming. That’s why having the right information matters. Taking the time to understand these features can help you have informed and meaningful conversations with your child about staying safe online.

Explore the My Digital World platform for practical information and resources to help you navigate WhatsApp privacy and safety with your child.

Family device rules don’t have to look the same in every home.

Each family has its own set of rules and routines and what works for one family may not work for another-and that’s okay.

When it comes to your child’s digital life, simple boundaries can help everyone know what to expect. This could mean agreeing on:

-When devices can be used
-Which apps are appropriate
- When it’s time to put devices away
-Which safety and privacy settings to use

The goal isn’t to control every moment your child spends online. It’s about creating healthy boundaries that support safety, trust and open conversations.

What digital boundary works well in your family? Or is there one you’re still trying to establish?

Share your experience with us-another parent might find your approach helpful.
