Every child deserves protection, voice and opportunity.

June 25 is the Day of the African Child , a day when the African Union recognises the rights of children across the continent.

But rights on paper mean little without systems that enforce them. In South Africa, autistic and neurodiverse children are still being:

* Denied access to mainstream education without justification
* Excluded from sporting and cultural activities
* Placed in underfunded schools with undertrained staff
* Diagnosed late or not at all

The PHM Foundation is working to close that gap. But it takes all of us.

Save this. Share it. Link in bio to support our work. 💙

They are not limited. They are often misunderstood.

Every neurodiverse child deserves understanding, the right resources, and the right environment. That is what this is about.
Not pity. Not charity. Understanding, resources, and the right environment.

Today we open the conversation. Come back every day this week.

Save this. Share it with a parent, a teacher, or anyone who works with children.

June 13 is International Albinism Awareness Day.

Albinism is a genetic condition affecting melanin production. In South Africa, people with albinism face not only physical challenges, sun sensitivity, vision difficulties, but serious risks to their safety and persistent social stigma.

Inclusion means everyone. Every condition. Every difference. Every person.

At the PHM Foundation, we stand for a South Africa where all children are safe, seen, and supported, regardless of how they look, learn, or communicate.

Child Protection Week ends today. The work does not.

This week, South Africa stopped to talk about protecting its children.

We talked about violence. About silence. About the children who cannot speak up for themselves.

At the PHM Foundation, every week is child protection week, because autistic and neurodiverse children need adults who understand them, communities that include them, and systems that protect them year-round.

Not just this week. Every week.

If you know a child who needs support, or a family that is struggling, our link is in bio. We are here.

Did you know?
A child who struggles to see the board may not be distracted at all.

Sometimes support starts with noticing what a child may be struggling to see, hear, or process. A simple eye test changed everything for one family.

Small health checks can make a big difference in a child’s confidence, learning, and daily experience.

What is a health check (like eyes or ears) that made a surprising difference for a child you know?

✨ Creating spaces for understanding matters.

The PHM Foundation recently visited the Neuroverse Galactica Sensory Space Exhibition at Kingsmead College, an interactive experience designed to help children, families, and educators better understand neurodiversity.

Through sensory, planet-themed spaces, the exhibition explores how children with autism, ADHD, and other neurodivergent profiles may experience the world.

Understanding creates inclusion. 💙

You do not need perfect words to support an autism parent.

You don't need answers. You just need to show up. Listen without fixing. Say "I see you." That is more than enough.

What is the most supportive thing someone has said or done for you as a parent?

Not every meltdown is a tantrum.

A tantrum has a goal. A meltdown is a nervous system overload. One needs boundaries. The other needs safety. Getting it right changes everything for a child.

What is one thing you wish more people understood about meltdowns?
