My Beautiful sweet daughter has had a chronic illness since birth, to date doctors have been unable to make a full diagnosis and a future treatment plan, due to the lack of expertise in Immunology. She was born with a "presumed” Auto Immune/Genetic disorder. The first few years of life, were the most hardest as she caught everything due to her compromised Immune system. Unfortunately, the organ th
at has been attacked is her Liver, which is having an impact on her other main organs. She has been on IV Immunoglobin Transfusions since the age of 2 and a handful of tablets daily, in order to hold back the process of what is going on in her little body. We as parents have been adamant and persistent to get to bottom of this and with the assistance of her pediatrician, we have consulted with the top Professors and Doctors in South Africa. Doctors have suggested that we do have time on our side, but to use it wisely, as they are not sure when the liver will reach a spiraling breakdown. Although the monthly blood tests are indicating deterioration, which is very concerning. We are at the stage that after 8 years of seen our daughter struggle that it has become so important for us to get to the root of the problem and fix it, as a Mom I need to know within myself that I have done all I can, this is the least we can do for our Daughter. God has lead us to one of the Most Senior and Renowned Doctor's, who is based in the UK, who
has requested us to bring our daughter over firstly for a consultation and from there it will be decided on long term treatment, such
as a possibility of a Bone Marrow Transplant. The teams who we will consult with are all specialists in the Immunology unit. Doctors here in South Africa have been phenomenal but unfortunately the Immunology unit that deals with Auto immune/ genetic disorders
is not as advanced as the UK. All the Doctors that have crossed our path and the helping hands reached out towards us have been a phenomenal experience, the only answer I have for this is that God has made this possible when in the beginning it all looked impossible.
