A powerful day of action and learning 🌱✨

Greenpeace Africa volunteers and staff came together with a vibrant youth group to kickstart a community garden alongside Mama Malekahu in Innespark, Johannesburg.

Beyond planting seeds, we planted knowledge 💚 — engaging in meaningful conversations about the importance of non-GMO seeds and embracing permaculture principles for sustainable living.

This is what community looks like: learning, growing, and building a greener future together. 🌍

Our children are born into a plastic world. Plastic may have some purpose BUT using a piece of plastic for a few minutes and then throwing it away.
Where do you think it goes to?
EVERYWHERE.
In our oceans, on land, in the stomachs of our sea creatures and found in our bodies.

In South Africa we have over 60 million people. Surely most of them don't want to have this unnecessary plastic burden on our planet.

Please can you add your name to this very important moment.

Instead of single use plastic
1) use a reusable bag
2) make your own bag
3) use your hands 😏
4) refuse to take a plastic bag just to carry your goodies to home then done
5) voice your concerns with your local supermarkets
6) ask to stop covering our fruit and vegetables in plastic

Add your name now to demand South Africa’s biggest supermarkets ditch throwaway plastic once and for all.
