On 21 November 2026, PESTO will host a Family Fun Day to raise funds towards establishing a Community Skills Centre in Soweto/Diepkloof.
This is not simply about hosting an event. It is about creating access to practical skills, technology and new opportunities for young people and community members.
We are starting the journey now — one step, one partnership and one opportunity at a time.

PESTO: ONE DAY AT A TIME — DAY 1 of 103

Today, 10 August 2026, the journey officially begins.

There is still a lot that needs to be done. The 21 November PESTO Family Fun Run is ahead of us, and the bigger goal is even greater — to raise the resources needed to establish a community training facility that can create opportunities for people in our communities.

Today wasn't about pretending that everything is already in place.
It was about starting.

The planning. The research. The conversations. The ideas. The uncomfortable decisions. The work that nobody sees.

From today, I want to document this journey — not only the successes, but also the challenges, setbacks and lessons along the way.
One day at a time.
One task at a time.
One person at a time.
This is Day 1 of building PESTO.

A fire broke out at the Soweto Empowerment Zone, according to ward 26 councilo Sithembiso Mashinini, who was present at the scene, the blaze erupted at the recycling section and said he will give updates once the fire department has finished containing the blaze and assessing the damage.
