CAP Newsflash: Joint School Safety Operation

On Friday, 21 August 2026, a joint law enforcement operation focused on school safety, drugs and violence took place across Westbury, Newclare and Noordgesig, with the participation of the CAP-K9 Unit, SAPS, Gauteng Traffic Wardens, CPF patrollers and other law enforcement K9 resources.
The operation included members from JHB SAPS, Parkview SAPS, Norwood SAPS, Hillbrow SAPS, Moffatview SAPS, Sophiatown SAPS, Brixton SAPS, Gauteng Traffic Wardens, CPF Patrollers and Brinant K9.
During the operation, authorities confiscated ma*****na, codeine, vapes, knives and other dangerous weapons . A suspected student drug dealer was also apprehended.
The operation forms part of ongoing efforts to reduce the presence of drugs and dangerous weapons in and around schools and to support safer environments for learners and teachers.
The Gauteng MEC for Education, Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, Lebogang Maile, met with the CAP K9 Unit during the operation and expressed appreciation for the role played by participating teams in supporting school safety.
CAP will continue to work alongside law enforcement and community partners in support of safer schools and communities.
