We came to NERSA ZA with more than placards. We came with submissions. ✊📄Today, grassroots organisations and community forums handed over their comments on Eskom Hld SOC Ltd’s Sixth Multi-Year Price Determination . These demands come from communities already struggling to keep the lights on. Our submissions are in. Now NERSA must listen. 👂✊

Communities are demanding:
⚡ No more unaffordable tariff increases
💡 Stronger Free Basic Electricity
🏠 Affordable electricity for all
☀️ Community-owned
🔎 Transparency and accountability
📢 Meaningful public participation
🌱 A people-centred just transition

It is essential for cooking, studying, working, communicating and living with dignity. That is not energy justice. 🤝 Today, we hit the pavement outside Nersa to demand that electricity is affordable, reliable and accessible to all. There's still time to submit your own comments... Today, we're hosting a community-led workshop at the Just Transition Centre . This is important for information-sharing and ensuring that even those people living in rural areas know and understand how a just transition can address . These are the types of workshops we should be seeing a lot more of, around the country - spaces where people can go to get a better understanding of why and how climate change affects us and what we can do to adapt and mitigate. Also to understand what should be expected from government and what we could be doing ourselves, on the ground. Presidential Climate Commission Thabo Sibeko

It’s about using our imagination to innovate even more – to create technologies that don’t harm our environment, that can be adapted for local realities and that also create safer everyday experiences for women.

This is why we launched the Community Just Transition Centre – to ensure that women have a meaningful say in the solutions shaping their communities and their future. Because a just transition should . ✊🏾 Thabo Sibeko Dzomo La Mupo "Voice of the Earth"

READ: Over 100 solar cookers delivered! ☀️🍲This is a major milestone in our community clean energy drive – more than 100 rural households across roughly 10 villages in Lephalale and Venda, Limpopo now cook using the sun! This initiative is about much more than just distributing technology. By partnering with local groups like the Mulambwane Women's League, Bopanang Women's Organisation, and Ithuteng Community Organisation, we ensure that local women are directly trained to assemble, use, and maintain these units.

For these families, the impact is immediate:
• Lower cooking costs by reducing reliance on expensive purchased fuels.
• Safer homes with reduced exposure to harmful indoor air pollution.
• Empowered communities where women lead and shape local energy solutions.

This is what a true looks like on the ground – small-scale, practical solutions that directly fight energy poverty. Green Building Africa
