Reference: Donor's Name/Project Name/Trees It was initially the main fundraising arm of the South African Zionist Federation. During the past more than 100 years it has fundraised for various projects in Israel including The South Africa Forest, Drop of Life Campaign, Send a Child to Summer Camp Project, Besor Dam, Hula Valley, South Africa Memorial Forest, Gesher Water Reservoir and the Kadoorie Agriculture School, the Carmel Fires Emergency Campaign and the Holitz Security Plantings. In the late 1990’s the JNF-SA also began forestry and education projects in Limpopo, Mamelodi and Cape Town. It has also been part of a number of important United Nations conferences in South Africa including COP17 in Durban and the World Summit for Sustainable Development in Johannesburg. "Over the past 115 years, JNF has evolved into a global environmental leader by planting more than 250 million trees, building over 240 reservoirs and dams, developing over 250,000 acres of land, creating more than 2,000 parks, providing the infrastructure for over 1,000 communities, and connecting thousands of children and young adults to Israel and their heritage."

What can we learn from October 7 about leadership, resilience and the Jewish future?

Following his powerful address at Cape Town’s 7 October commemoration, we’re privileged to welcome Doron Libshtein to Johannesburg this Shabbos.

Doron is an international speaker, entrepreneur and leadership mentor. His brother, Ofir Libshtein z”l, head of Sha’ar HaNegev Regional Council, was murdered on October 7 while defending Kfar Aza.

Since then Doron has dedicated himself to carrying forward Ofir’s legacy.

In honour of those fallen on 7 October and in the 3 years since. Members of JNFSA staff planted a Sunflower garden with the kids of King David.

This garden will bring a sense of revival and resilience, and serves as a reminder of hope in difficult times.
