Prof Steven Friedman is a public commentator and academic currently serving as a Research Professor at the University of Johannesburg. Throughout South Africaโs democratic era, he has written extensively on politics, both as a scholar and as a commentator.
His published works explore South Africaโs transition to democracy, the influence of the trade union movement, and contemporary political developments. In addition to his academic work, he has contributed columns and articles to a range of South African newspapers. His writing combines rigorous academic research with clear, accessible language aimed at readers beyond the academic world.
