Thank you to the Chevrah Kadisha Social Services for hosting us today to give a talk to social workers and psychologists on sexual assault and the psychological aftermath. It was wonderful to engage on this important topic and we are grateful to have had the opportunity to present.

Child Protection Month is a reminder that keeping children safe is not only a conversation for times of crisis — it is an everyday responsibility.

Through this campaign, we’ll be sharing important truths, challenging harmful myths, and encouraging communities to have the difficult but necessary conversations around abuse, grooming, safeguarding, and protection.

Because prevention starts with awareness.
Protection starts with accountability.
And every child deserves to grow up safe, heard, and protected.

We have been in Cape Town on a whirlwind but amazingly successful trip. We have connected with psychologists and social workers to strengthen our resource base in Cape Town. This enables us to provide targeted referrals which make the world of difference to a victim.

We accompanied an adult victim of childhood sexual abuse to the police station to open a case against her abuser. We were heartened to see how efficiently and sensitively the matter was the sergeant in charge.

We then went onto the Cape flats to an Afrika Tikkun early childhood development centre. What an extraordinary place that caters to all ages in the Mfuleni community, offering after school programmes, sports, media centre, health clinic and so much more. We feel honoured to privileged to be able to roll out our SchoolSafe prevention of child sexual abuse program in this incredible centre.

We have made some brilliant contacts and overall just had an inspirational and uplifting trip. We have come back more determined than ever to be there for victims and educate the community.

The release of the Civil Commission’s report, Silenced No More, which documents evidence and testimony relating to sexual and gender-based violence perpetrated during the October 7 attacks and in captivity thereafter, represents a huge step forward in holding to account the perpetrators of conflict related sexual violence in October 7th 2023

The findings outlined in this report are deeply disturbing. They point not only to acts of brutality against individuals, but to patterns of violence intended to terrorise, dehumanise, humiliate, and destroy the fabric of families and communities. Sexual violence used systematically in the context of terror and mass atrocities constitutes a grave violation of human rights and international law.

Koleinu believes that the international community must recognise these acts for what they are: not isolated incidents, but part of a broader campaign of gender-based violence, torture, and kinocide.

Kinocide is defined as the deliberate targeting and destruction of families as a weapon of war or terror. Kinocide recognises that violence aimed at families and communal bonds is not incidental, but intentional: an attack on the very structures that provide protection, identity, continuity, emotional safety, and resilience within society.

The attempted silencing, denial, minimisation, or politicisation of survivors’ experiences causes further harm. Survivors of sexual violence should never have to fight to have their pain acknowledged. We are deeply concerned by the ways in which ideological bias and public discourse can contribute to retraumatisation, disbelief, and the erasure of victims’ suffering. Koleinu stands firmly against all forms of sexual and gender-based violence, regardless of the identity of the victims or perpetrators. Accountability, recognition, and survivor-centred justice are essential to any meaningful human rights response.

The most comprehensive investigation to date into the sexual atrocities committed by Hamas on October 7 and during hostage captivity. Based on a uniquely constructed war crimes archive and a two-year independent investigation, the report concludes that Hamas and its collaborators systematically used...
