A Huge Thank You for a Resounding Success!

What an incredible day!

On behalf of the Director of the Ditsong National Museum of Military History and the trustees of the SANMMH Building & Development Trust, I want to extend my most heartfelt thanks to every single volunteer and contributor who attended our Maintenance & Cleaning Day this past Saturday, 25th October.

The day was a huge resounding success, and it simply would not have been possible without the community, energy, and hard work of everyone who showed up.

I must give a special and massive thank you to all the Scout Troops and their dedicated Troop Leaders who attended. Your enthusiasm, teamwork, and "can-do" attitude were truly the backbone of the day's achievements. We were blown away by your commitment, and you have made a visible, lasting impact on the museum.

An event like this also relies on the generosity of our partners. A special word of thanks must go to Mr. Trevor Kempster of Reinol Janek Chemicals. Mr. Kempster, your kind donation of the absolutely fabulous detergent, "Pink Stuff," was a game-changer! It worked wonders and made our work so much more effective.

As the Chief Co-ordinator, I was truly humbled to see so many people come together with a shared passion for preserving our military history.

Thank you all once again for your time, effort, and incredible spirit.

This past week the members of 61 Mech Bn Veterans spent some valuable time cleaning and preparing "Sarge" for their Annual Memorial Service. Here is a video of them driving Sarge into position at the museum.

Yes, some of these exhibits are still in perfect working order.

We are pleased to advise that there will be refreshments available at the next Maintenance & Cleaning Day on the 25th October 2025.

The team from CarPerk Coffee will set up their fabulous trailer at the DITSONG MUSEUMS OF SOUTH AFRICA from early on, so those who want to get in early can get a cup of coffee and a bite to eat to prepare themselves for the cleaning and maintenance tasks.

The Ditsong National Museum of Military History has just upgraded the Children's Playground area. The Jeep and Airplane has been made child safe, and there is a brand new Jungle Gym cm Obstacle Course. This is an excellent venue for your kids next birthday.
