πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦βœ¨ Youth Day Success Story: Modiehi Sara Tsotetsi

This Youth Day, we celebrate the young people who are not waiting for the futureβ€”they are building it.

Modiehi Sara Tsotetsi is a shining example of what is possible when determination, opportunity, and vision come together.

Together with her father and mentor, Jonas Tsotetsi, Sara started an agricultural business with a dream of creating a sustainable future. Through the HIVSA Social Employment Fund (SEF) part-time employment opportunity, Sara was able to earn an income that she strategically reinvested into the business, purchasing livestock medicine, feed, and a fridge to safely store medication for their cattle.

Today, that dream has grown into a thriving agricultural enterprise with nearly 50 head of cattle and 16 sheep. The business has not only strengthened her family's livelihood but has also created employment opportunities for two full-time community members who help care for the livestock.

As a young woman succeeding in a traditionally male-dominated sector, Sara is also inspiring other young women to see agriculture as a pathway to entrepreneurship, independence, and leadership. Her ambition is to one day own her own land and continue growing her business for generations to come.

Sara's story reminds us that when young people are given opportunities, they don't just create better futures for themselvesβ€”they create opportunities for others, strengthen communities, and drive economic growth.

This Youth Day, we celebrate young changemakers like Sara who are proving that the youth can truly **futureproof their future**. πŸŒ±πŸ„

🌟 Youth Month Success Story: Meet Hope Tsitsi Ramushu

This Youth Month, we celebrate young people who are transforming their own futures while making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

As a learner at the NextGen Capacity Hub, Hope Tsitsi Ramushu has had the opportunity to support clients facing a range of personal challenges. Through active listening, empathy, and basic counselling skills developed through the programme, she has helped create a safe and supportive environment where clients feel heard, understood, and accepted.

Over time, several clients showed positive progress, while others were successfully referred to additional support services to ensure they received the care they needed.

Reflecting on her journey, Hope shared:

"At first, I was nervous to engage with a real client, but the support from my mentor gave me confidence. Now I can see the difference I am making in someone's life."

Hope's story is a reminder that investing in young people creates a ripple effect of positive change. Through mentorship, practical experience, and skills development, the NextGen Capacity Hub is empowering a new generation of compassionate professionals who are making a real impact in their communities.

This Youth Month, we celebrate Hope and all the young people who are building brighter futures for themselves and those around them.

🌟 Youth Month Success Story: Queen Mosebi
This Youth Month, we celebrate young people who are turning opportunity into impact and building brighter futures for themselves and their communities.

Meet Queen Mosebi from Reach Out Community Projects, whose determination and entrepreneurial spirit have transformed skills development into a thriving business venture.

Through her involvement with Reach Out Community Project as a volunteer, Queen completed a beauty course that equipped her with practical skills in the beauty industry. Using the knowledge and experience she gained, she went on to establish her own beauty business, offering services including hair extensions, makeup, lashes, nails, and beauty treatments.

What started as a learning opportunity through HIVSA and Social Employment Fund (SEF) has grown into a pathway for economic empowerment and independence.

Queen's journey demonstrates the power of investing in young people through skills development, mentorship, and community-based opportunities. Her story is a reminder that when young people are equipped with the right tools and support, they can create opportunities not only for themselves but also for those around them.

As we celebrate Youth Month, we are proud to share stories like Queen's that highlight the resilience, talent, and potential of South Africa's youth.

πŸŽ₯ Watch Queen share her journey and how she turned her training and volunteer experience into a successful beauty business.

🌱 Futureproof Your Health. Futureproof Your Future.

This Youth Month, as we celebrate the potential, resilience, and aspirations of South Africa's young people, we welcome President Cyril Ramaphosa's announcement of the rollout of Lenacapavir for HIV prevention in South Africa.

Describing the launch as a turning point in South Africa's HIV response, President Ramaphosa highlighted how this groundbreaking prevention option expands choice, strengthens dignity, and empowers people to take control of their health and their future.

For HIVSA, futureproofing the future means more than preparing young people for employment, entrepreneurship, and leadership. It also means ensuring that young people have access to the information, services, and prevention options they need to protect their health and realise their full potential.

Addressing young South Africans, President Ramaphosa said:

"Know that your future is worth protecting."

As we commemorate Youth Month, we are reminded that a healthier generation is a stronger generation. Every young person deserves the opportunity to pursue their goals, realise their potential, and build the future they envision for themselves.

Because every infection prevented is a future protected.
