Seven decades ago, 20,000 women reshaped the destiny of our nation.
On 9 August 1956, women from every corner of South Africa marched to the Union Buildings in Pretoria. They stood shoulder to shoulder – united across race and background – to declare that justice, dignity and freedom were non-negotiable.

Today, as we mark 70 years since that historic day, we bow our heads in deep gratitude to the mothers and sisters of 1956. Their courage was the foundation of our democracy.

The march did not end in 1956. It continues through every South African woman who leads with integrity, builds her community, breaks barriers and carries our nation forward today. We honour the legacy. We carry the courage.

Brand South Africa recently visited eSwatini to honour a shared history, while empowering the next generation through innovation, education and leadership.

Commemorating 50 years since June 16, the annual event focused on aviation opportunities, and bringing hope, dignity, and support to families through community outreach in Eswatini.

Through its programme, Brand South Africa supported this initiative which included a golf day experience, celebrating the spirit of Ubuntu and the enduring bond between South Africa and Eswatini.
