AUDA-NEPAD was pleased to collaborate with the African Union Commission, UNESCO, Spix Foundation and other partners at eLearning Africa 2026, held from 3–5 June at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra, Ghana.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the Government and people of Ghana for their warm hospitality, and to the Honourable Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, for hosting this important continental gathering on the future of learning in Africa.

Through the Human Capital and Institutional Development Directorate, AUDA-NEPAD contributed to discussions on advancing inclusive digital education, skills development, AI-enabled learning, and the productive use of technology to strengthen human capital across the continent.

The engagement also provided an opportunity to highlight AUDA-NEPAD’s emerging Programme for Inclusive and Productive Use of the Internet in Africa, PIPIA, as well as the AUDA-NEPAD EdTech Vision and Plan, which seek to support Member States in expanding meaningful digital learning, strengthening education systems, and ensuring that technology translates into real opportunities for learners, teachers, youth, workers, and enterprises.

AUDA-NEPAD remains committed to working with Member States, Regional Economic Communities, development partners, academia, innovators, and private sector actors to translate continental frameworks, including Agenda 2063, CESA, STISA, and the African Union Digital Education Strategy, into practical programmes that deliver measurable impact across Africa.

Today and tomorrow, we are in Windhoek alongside the National Planning Commission of Namibia and JICA to validate and launch the country's Impact Assessment outcomes.⁣

The assessment points to real opportunities in mining, fisheries, and agro-processing. Realising those opportunities depends on moving up the value chain, investing in beneficiation, and building regional value chains that connect Namibian producers to continental markets. Namibia's strategic location, established trade corridors, and the Port of Walvis Bay are already a strong foundation for that ambition.⁣

This pilot spans five countries, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Namibia, and Seychelles, each bringing distinct national contexts that are collectively shaping a robust, adaptable assessment framework for continent-wide rollout. The findings and lessons from across these countries are informing evidence-based AfCFTA implementation at every level of governance.⁣

The two-day programme brings together government, the private sector, and development partners for a Training of Trainers session, a technical validation workshop, and a high-level country launch under the patronage of the Director-General of the National Planning Commission. Our goal is not just to publish findings, but to agree on concrete next steps and build the national capacity to sustain the assessment as a living tool.⁣

AfCFTA implementation delivers when its benefits reach MSMEs, women, and youth. That is the measure this work is ultimately working toward.⁣

Strengthening partnerships for Africa's development!

On 4–5 June 2026, AUDA-NEPAD undertook a high-level mission to Burkina Faso, led by our Director of Operations, Mr. Ola Ehinmoro, to engage with the Government of Burkina Faso on strategic and technical priorities aimed at deepening collaboration and advancing the country's development agenda.

During the engagements, discussions focused on enhancing cooperation mechanisms to better support Burkina Faso's national development priorities. H.E. Karamoko Jean-Marie Traoré, Minister of Foreign Affairs, strongly reiterated Burkina Faso's expectation for the establishment of an AUDA-NEPAD Country Office, highlighting its importance in addressing the country's development needs and strengthening partnership with the Agency.

One year ago, we made a commitment to move faster on African energy infrastructure. This week in Addis Ababa, we are delivering on it.

We’re reviewing pre-feasibility studies for four priority interconnector projects across Southern Africa, work that is cutting project preparation timelines from nearly a decade down to three to four years.

The Botswana–Namibia, DRC–Angola, Angola–Zambia and DRC-South Africa interconnectors represent a new pace for how Africa builds and connects its energy systems.
