The Choice on Termination of Pregnancy (CTOP) Act allows abortions up to 20 weeks and 6 days of pregnancy.

Access to abortion is a legal right in South Africa, but delays, staff shortages, stigma, and resource constraints continue to prevent many people from accessing care when they need it.

ICYMI, SECTION27 and the Treatment Action Campaign launched a new report exposing widespread barriers to abortion services in the Eastern Cape and Limpopo.

The National Child Protection Register is meant to help keep children safe by recording cases of abuse and identifying people who are unsuitable to work with children.

Yet, SECTION27's new report finds serious gaps in how the register is being implemented, limiting its ability to prevent violence against children, particularly in schools.
