Communities in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo are facing a worsening humanitarian crisis marked by ongoing violence and a newly declared Ebola outbreak.

Armed groups, including the Allied Democratic Forces, have carried out attacks across Ituri and North Kivu provinces. The violence has displaced countless families, destroyed homes, and left many residents living in fear.

The crisis has intensified with the spread of the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola, officially declared on May 15, 2026. The outbreak has affected parts of Ituri and North Kivu, where crowded displacement camps and limited access to healthcare have increased concerns. Damaged medical facilities and attacks on healthcare workers have further complicated response efforts, leaving many communities in urgent need of assistance.
