As we celebrate Christmas, we are reminded that Christmas is far more than a season of gifts and gatherings. It is a timeless call to renewal of the heart, the home, and the nation.

Christmas speaks to values that remain urgently relevant today: love that restores dignity, compassion that bridges divisions, humility that softens power, and hope that refuses to die even in the face of hardship. These are not merely spiritual ideals; they are moral responsibilities. They are the building blocks of ethical leadership, strong families, and cohesive communities.

May this Christmas bring peace to our homes, healing to our communities, and purpose to our nation.

Join MRM for our monthly Webinar Series as we commemorate Heritage Month. This special edition will celebrate our rich cultural heritage and highlight the importance of preserving it for future generations.

30 September 2025
10am - 14:00
Zoom Platform: https://tinyurl.com/433j7byh

Background and Rationale:

Heritage Month is a time to honor South Africa’s cultural diversity and reflect on the values that have shaped our communities. However, the celebration of heritage must also confront the urgent realities facing our society particularly the vulnerability of children and women to violence, exploitation, and neglect.

Traditional leaders, Khoisan leaders, and Traditional healers hold a unique position of moral and cultural authority. Their leadership is deeply embedded in the social fabric of communities and can play a transformative role in restoring safety, dignity, and accountability.

This Webinar seeks to activate their roles in addressing gender-based violence, child protection, and community healing.

This initiative represents a critical intersection of cultural respect, community empowerment, and safety enhancement, positioning traditional leaders as champions of social protection within their communities.

It is with deep sorrow and a profound sense of loss that we announce the passing of Lady Bishop Mantoa Hlabedi-Lichaba, Deputy Convenor of the Moral Regeneration Movement (MRM) in the Free State.

Bishop Lichaba was a towering figure whose voice and activism was dedicated to the cause of social justice, the advancement of women’s rights, and the protection of children. A tireless servant of her community, she committed her life to uplifting the
marginalised and speaking truth to power.

Beyond her advocacy, Bishop Lichaba was also a devoted preacher of the gospel, whose ministry touched countless lives. She faithfully carried many roles in society, embodying the values of faith, compassion, and justice.

Her departure is not only a loss to her family and loved ones, but also to the broader community she so passionately served. We celebrate her life, her courage, and her enduring legacy of service.

She met her untimely death on the 15th August 2025 after short illness, after she celebrated her 50th birthday on the 12th August.

Details regarding memorial and funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course.

May her soul rest in eternal peace and rise in glory!!

As Dr. Larry Kaufmann aptly stated:
“For as long as there are people of faith and human experiences that contradict God’s plan for the world, there will always be a need for contextual theology.”

MRM and partners: South African Council of Churches | Southern African Catholic Bishops' Conference | KZN Christian Council | Imvuselelo Foundation for theological reflection and dialogue invites you to a Theological Colloquium under the theme "KAIROS MOMENT IN NATION BUILDING"

The dialogue focuses on the following thematic areas:
1. Reflecting on the role of theologians today, informed by the Kairos Document and led by contextual, progressive theologians.
2. Evaluating the current state of the Church and the ecumenical movement.
3. Re-examining the relationship between the state and the Church.

"Respect Human Dignity and Equality"

Today, on , we honour the towering legacy of a man who lived these values with humility and unwavering conviction. Nelson Mandela taught us that freedom means nothing unless it uplifts the dignity of others.

“To deny people their human rights is to challenge their very humanity.”
— Nelson Mandela

Let us use this day not merely to remember, but to act — to regenerate the moral fabric of our nation through kindness, service, and the protection of human dignity.
