High school is challenging, but proving your English skills shouldn't be.

We hear from many students that the Secondary English Test gave them the confidence to apply for scholarships and exchange programmes. Because the test is designed for your age group, the topics make sense, and the questions are fair. It is the best way to show the world what you are capable of.

Book your test slot on our website https://www.britishcouncil.org.za/exam/english-tests/secondary-english-test or at a nearest partner centre and take the next step in your education.

The Bakashimika International Photography Festival will open in Lusaka, Zambia from 18–24 June 2026, providing a unique platform for innovative African stories through photography and lens-based art.

We are proud to support the exhibition Thresholds: On Dreams, Geographies and Belonging co-curated by Towela Kams (Creative Connect) and Sana Ginwalla (Everyday Lusaka) as part of our Biennials Connect grant programme. The exhibition brings together photographers from the UK and Southern Africa who are exploring identity, memory and place through bold, experimental practices.

Tshepiso Moropa (South Africa) and Mamu Unu (Nigeria/UK) delve into the spiritual, the intangible and personal histories, while Maingaila Muvundika (Zambia) and al Basir Sheikh (Bangladesh/UK) document diasporic communities between Lusaka and Cambridge.

If you're in Lusaka, join us from 18–24 June, between 11am and 6pm daily, to experience these powerful artistic perspectives and be part of the conversations shaping contemporary photography across Africa and beyond.
