ENOUGH!! OUR WOMEN DESERVE TO BE SAFE.
Caring Women’s Forum (CWF) joins South Africans across our country in expressing our outrage, heartbreak and deep concern at the continued violence and femicide being perpetrated against women.
Another woman murdered. Another daughter who does not come home. Another family shattered. Another name added to a list that should never exist.
We cannot allow this to become normal.
Women should not have to calculate their safety before leaving home, getting into a car, going to work, ending a relationship or simply living their lives.
Our daughters should not grow up believing that fear is an inevitable part of being a woman.
As Caring Women’s Forum, we believe that the safety of women is not a women’s issue — it is a societal responsibility.
We call for accountability. We call for effective policing and prosecution. We call for communities to stop protecting perpetrators and silencing victims. We call on men to stand with us — not only after another woman has been killed, but in challenging the attitudes, conversations and behaviours that allow violence against women to take root.
And we call on every one of us to act.
If you know something, speak.
If you see abuse, do not look away. If a woman tells you she is afraid, believe her. If someone is in danger, help her access safety and support.
Behind every headline is a woman who was loved.
A daughter.
A mother.
A sister.
A friend.
A life with dreams, plans and a future.
We refuse to become accustomed to their deaths.
Our women deserve more than condolences after they are killed.
They deserve protection while they are alive.
Caring Women’s Forum stands in solidarity with every woman living in fear, every survivor rebuilding her life and every family grieving a woman they should still be able to hold.
Enough is enough.
Not one more woman.
Not one more daughter.
